Hero Vida V1 Pro Review

Detailed Review by Maxabout Team

Overview

It is probably worth your time to sit up and take notice when the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer launches its first electric scooter. Hero MotoCorp debuted its first EV, the Vida V1 electric scooter, in the electric two-wheeler market. The Vida V1 will be available in two variants: Plus and Pro, with the primary difference being the battery packs.

Hero Vida V1 Design and Style

The Vida V1 Pro is made in India but it is available worldwide. Because the brand has global ambitions, the scooter is designed with a global audience in mind. The primary design elements are sleek and well-balanced. The fascia lacks curves and creases, but it does have some aggressive lines. The angular headlamps and the tinted flyscreen deserve credit. The split seats give it a sporty feel, but as you get closer, you'll notice the seat texture is quite basic. The wheels are well-designed, but the one at the back is unusual. Because of the large size of the Vida V1 Pro's rear, it appears out of place. Hero offers this scooter in a variety of colours to customers. While the orange variant is the most popular, the blue variant appears to be more youthful.

Hero Vida V1 Ride and Handling

The Vida V1 Pro was put through its paces on two tracks: a 2.2km performance track and a handling track. The e-scooter gave a performance track demonstration of what Sports mode is all about. When you press the throttle, the scooter produces instant torque, allowing you to reach high speeds in no time. While the top speed is limited to 80 km/h, it frequently exceeded that mark. But the acceleration after 60 km/h is more gradual and less exhilarating.

Hero also offers the Boost mode on the Vida V1 electric scooter. When the rider is in Eco mode and wants to overtake a vehicle, the system switches to Sport mode and allows the rider to do so. This mode is activated by default for 30 seconds, which is unnecessary. The production-ready electric scooter will only have Boost mode based on the throttle-position sensor.

Things get a lot more exciting on the handling track, where the Vida V1 Pro showed its true colours. The scooter is extremely simple to ride and manoeuvre, especially in back-to-back turns. The front produces a light feel while also demonstrating stability. The handlebar feedback allows you to push much harder than you would like. The overall weight distribution is well done, which will be noticeable when doing full lock turns or trying to get it out of a parking spot.

Key Features of Hero Vida V1

Hero has gone completely insane in one area: the features. It has a 7” full-colour touchscreen and displays a heap of information. Aside from the usual information such as speed, range, clock, and charge, it also allows the rider to switch between riding modes. While changing modes through the instrument cluster is an option, switching through the switchgear is more convenient and user-friendly. Along with the scooter paper, the cluster can store and display your driving license. There's turn-by-turn navigation, but you'll need to be connected to the Vida app on your smartphone to use it.

LED headlamps, removable batteries, fast charging, and other features are also useful. In terms of utility, there is a 26-litre under-seat storage compartment that can hold a lot of stuff. The company has also included a USB charger, but there are no front storage holders to keep the phone in. Other features include an anti-theft alarm, limp home mode, geofencing, an SOS alert, a two-way throttle for reverse and regenerative assist, and OTA updates.

2024 Hero Vida V1 comes with Keyless ignition as standard on the Vida V1 Pro. The key can be kept in the pocket, and the vehicle can be started with the push of a button. Pressing the button located just below the ignition key opens the boot.

Battery, Top Speed and Range of Hero Vida V1

The top speed of both variants is 80 km/h. The rider has four riding modes to choose from: Eco, Ride, Sport, and Custom. The Plus variant can speed up from 0 to 40 km/h in 3.4 seconds. And the Pro variant can speed up from 0 to 40 km/h in 3.2 seconds.

2024 Hero Vida V1 Pro version has a larger 3.94kWh battery pack, while the Vida V1 Plus version has a 3.44kWh battery pack. As a result of its larger battery pack, the Pro has an IDC-certified longer range of 110km. Hero Vida V1 Plus model has a certified range of 100 kilometres. And Hero Vida V1's fast charging speed is 1.2 km per minute.

The scooter's brakes aren't particularly impressive, but they do the job. The overall ride quality could not be tested, but this scooter will provide a comfortable ride.

Competitors

The new Hero Vida V1 is not a cheap electric scooter to own, and it is priced higher than its main competitors. In the Indian market, Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1 Pro, and TVS iQube will compete with Hero Vida V1.

Conclusion

For a limited time, the Vida V1 Pro was tested on Hero's test track. So the conclusion is based on that experience. If you are looking for a new electric scooter, consider the Vida V1 Pro because it gets a lot of things right. The design elements make the scooter appear larger from the front. It has an IDC range of 110 kilometres, which is quite good. Then there are the features that make the scooter desirable, such as cruise control, keyless ignition, and a seven-inch touchscreen.

2024 Hero Vida V1’s motor and battery performance work in its favour. The Sport mode is the most exciting, but things improve when there is a well-designed handling track. Hero Vida V1 can change direction instantly and requires little effort to manoeuvre. The scooter's overall balance is well-defined.

But Two factors work against it: pricing and overall quality. The New V1 Pro is one of the most expensive e-scooters on the market. To justify that price, not much effort has been put into making the overall fit and finish look excellent. The quality of some parts is quite poor, and it lacks finesse in some sections. Hero assured that these are prototypes and that the final production-ready model will not have these flaws.
