USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Bajaj Spirit 60 is a notable entry in the scooterette segment, particularly for its time of launch. What stands out is its unique two-speed automatic transmission, which was a rare feature back in the late 1990s and early 2000s. This transmission, coupled with its 60 cc two-stroke engine, provides a smooth and efficient ride, making it ideal for both urban and rural users. The anti-dive system and front suspension with hydraulic dampers enhance the braking and ride comfort, respectively. Although it may seem outdated compared to modern scooters, the Bajaj Spirit 60 was a pioneer in its class and won several awards, including the best scooter and best indigenous vehicle from Overdrive in 2000. Its reliability, fuel efficiency, and stylish design made it a favorite among college students and women due to its lightweight and easy maneuverability.
Price
The Bajaj Spirit 60 was priced around 27,000 ex-showroom when it was launched. To calculate the on-road price, you would typically add costs such as registration, insurance, and any other local taxes, which could bring the total to around 32,000 to 35,000, depending on the state and local regulations. While this price seems very affordable by todays standards, it was quite competitive in its time, making the Bajaj Spirit 60 an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers. However, its important to note that the vehicle is no longer in production, so any current pricing would be for used models, which would vary based on condition and mileage.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 10:45 PM The Bajaj Spirit 60 offers impressive mileage, with an expected range of 35 to 43 km per liter. On highway roads, it can achieve up to 45 km per liter, while in city conditions, it still manages a respectable 35 km per liter. This fuel efficiency makes it an excellent choice for those concerned about running costs, especially in a country where fuel prices can fluctuate significantly. The mileage is one of the key selling points of this scooterette, making it a practical option for daily commuting.

Quick Review by Maxabout Team

Bajaj Auto is an Indian company which is known for its two-wheelers and three-wheeler vehicles. It manufactures and sells scooters, motorcycles and auto rickshaws. It was founded by Jamnalal in Rajasthan in the late 1930s but is now headquartered in Pune, Mumbai. With its excellence, it has now become the third largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world and second in India.

Bajaj Spirit was one of the best scooters made by the Bajaj in 1999, which really proved its indigenous, efficient, reliable nature with its strong performance in Indian traffic conditions. This was a small sized, sleek look vehicle with a great heart which had lakhs of users.

Bajaj Spirit gave superb mileage of 45 km/litre on highway road and 35km/litre on city roads which made it popular both among rural and urban people as a fuel-efficient vehicle. It had a 59.86cc Engine with a single cylinder, 2-stroke, forced air cooled, which gave a maximum power of 3.6bhp@6500rpm and maximum torque of about 4.32Nm @5500rpm. It had 2-speed automatic transmission and drum brakes at front and at the rear end, which made it suitable to drive on busy roads. It was a very light scooter weighing just 76kgs which had the capacity to hold 3.6 litres of petrol in its tank. Its dimensions of 1020mm height and 1685mm length made it fit anywhere.

Bajaj has stopped the manufacturing of this vehicle but still, we can see this vehicle running in some old areas. Although it's spare parts have become rare but this scooter has proved its efficiency.

I own Bajaj Spirit that I had bought in 2004. Now the problem is that no spare service available to maintain the same. There are so many mechanic all around in SIlvassa, but not a single mechanic willing to repair it, even though there is spare available. It is evident that one should avoid buying vehicle which is not proven. One should always keep this in mind. Mind you, you guys, otherwise you will land in similar problems all the time.
