General information and overview

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is a 373cc streetfighter motorcycle characterized by its muscular design and sporty ergonomics. Launched in 2025, it features notable enhancements like a more powerful engine tune delivering 43hp in Sport mode, a bi-directional quickshifter co-developed with Bosch for clutchless gear shifts, and advanced safety technologies including ABS and traction control. It rides on radial tyres front and rear, improving grip and handling precision. The bike offers four riding modes, catering to different riding conditions from city cruising to aggressive sport riding. With a kerb weight of 174kg, its frame dynamics provide stability and agility. The analogue-digital instrument cluster includes ride-by-wire technology and a mono-projector headlamp adds distinctive styling. The fuel efficiency of 28 kmpl and a quick acceleration time of 0–100 kph in 6.4 seconds make it a balanced performer. These attributes position the NS400Z as a feature-rich, engaging motorcycle tailored for young urban riders and enthusiasts desiring a powerful yet accessible motorcycle for both city and occasional highway use.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z in its 2025 avatar has evolved into a more capable streetfighter with meaningful updates that enhance its core appeal. The engine now produces 43hp in sport mode, up from 40hp, offering sharper throttle response and gaining an extra 1000rpm on the redline. This makes acceleration quicker and riding more engaging, while other modes maintain a manageable 40hp for everyday use, balancing performance and control. The addition of a bi-directional quickshifter improves gear changes, especially in sport mode, providing a premium feel unusual in this price bracket. Handling remains confident, aided by radial tyres front and rear and upgraded brakes, making the NS400Z feel more planted and safer. Although the engine isn’t as aggressive or raw as some rivals, it now matches the specifications it promises, offering excellent value for riders wanting a blend of performance, features, and comfort for city and occasional highway use. Minor shortcomings include slightly hard gear lever feel and a less-than-stellar plastic finish, but these don’t detract from the overall positive experience. This update makes the NS400Z a well-rounded motorcycle that stands out in the mid-capacity segment in India, appealing to enthusiasts and commuters alike.

The 2025 Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z stands out as one of the most compelling performance streetfighters in India, especially for those who want a blend of power, features, and value. After riding it extensively, I can say the updates have genuinely elevated the experience. The engine now delivers 43hp in Sport mode, with a sharper throttle and a higher redline, making it feel quicker and more engaging than before. The bi-directional quickshifter, traction control, and radial tyres add a layer of sophistication that’s rare at this price. The handling is sharp, the ride quality is comfortable for both city and highway, and the overall build quality has improved. While the engine isn’t the most exciting at lower revs and the fuel tank range could be better, these are minor trade-offs. For anyone looking for a well-rounded, feature-rich 400cc motorcycle that delivers on both performance and practicality, the NS400Z is a strong contender.

Price

Pricing details and changes

The 2025 Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is priced at approximately ₹1.92 lakh ex-showroom in India. On-road prices will vary by city due to state taxes, insurance, and registration, typically adding around ₹20,000 to ₹25,000, bringing the on-road cost to roughly ₹2.15 lakh to ₹2.17 lakh in metro cities like Delhi or Mumbai. This pricing positions the NS400Z competitively against rivals in the 300-400cc category, offering features like a bi-directional quickshifter, traction control, and multiple riding modes that are often missing in motorcycles at this price point. The cost reflects Bajaj’s strategy to deliver premium tech and performance at an affordable level, making it an attractive proposition for buyers seeking value without compromising on advanced features. Considering the specifications and features, the asking price is fair and represents strong bang for the buck in India's competitive mid-size motorcycle market.

The 2025 Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is priced at ₹1.92 lakh (ex-showroom) in India, making it one of the most competitively priced 400cc motorcycles in the segment. On-road prices will vary depending on your state, but expect to pay around ₹2.15 to ₹2.25 lakh in most major cities, factoring in RTO registration, insurance, and other charges. This pricing puts it in direct competition with bikes like the KTM 390 Duke and the Yamaha R15 V4, but the NS400Z offers more features and a more mature package for the money. The value proposition is strong, especially with the addition of a bi-directional quickshifter, traction control, and radial tyres. For buyers who want a high-spec, performance-oriented motorcycle without breaking the bank, the NS400Z’s price makes it a smart choice.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

The Pulsar NS400Z claims an ARAI mileage of 28 kmpl, which aligns well with real-world figures that hover just under this number in city conditions and close to 30 kmpl on highways. Given its powerful 373cc engine and performance-focused tuning, this efficiency is reasonable and competitive, balancing spirited riding with manageable fuel costs. For buyers prioritizing mileage and running costs without sacrificing performance, it offers an optimal middle ground in the 400cc segment.

The 2025 Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z claims an ARAI-estimated mileage of 28kmpl, which is impressive for a 400cc motorcycle. In real-world conditions, I found it delivers close to this figure, with city rides averaging around 27-28kmpl and highway runs touching 29-30kmpl. This means the bike is efficient enough for daily commuting and long rides, keeping running costs manageable. For buyers concerned about fuel economy, the NS400Z offers a good balance between performance and mileage, making it a practical choice for those who want a powerful bike without compromising on running costs.

MAXABOUT RATING AND OVERVIEW
1
Vehicle Overview
Bajaj Pulsar CS200 is currently under the state of confusion as the bigger product from its lineup, CS400 has been named Dominar 400 by the company. If seen the same way, the CS200 will soon change to Dominar 200 and the motorcycle will carry the same 199.5 cc engine from the 200 Duke. Not just that, it will also get a reduced power output in order to suit the cruiser character of the motorcycle. The currently used engine on Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is good for 24.2 BHP at 9750 rpm and 18.6 Nm at 8000 rpm. As of now, there is no news about Dominar 200 anywhere in the Indian automobile market.
