Overview Of Honda CBR150R

One of the latest & affordable sports bike in the Malaysian market is the Honda CBR150R, brought in officially by Boon Siew Honda Malaysia and it costs RM10,363.17 on the road including insurance in Malaysia. It is speculated that Honda may bring this Karizma ZMR & R15 competitor in India in 2010 and price it below one lakh.

The Honda CBR150R is powered by a 149.4cc 4-stroke carburetted single cylinder 4 valve DOHC engine with 11.0:1 compression and CDI ignition, mated to a 6-speed wet clutch manual transmission. Honda CBR150R produces 18.5 Bhp at 10500 rpm and 13.5 Nm of torque at 8500 rpm.

The engine is water cooled with an electric fan that turns on automatically when needed. The bike has a 10 liter fuel tank. Though the latest technology is fuel injection like Hero Honda has done in recently launched Karizma ZMR and Yamaha has in its R15 but it also increases the price. Maybe thats why Honda has stuck to last generation carburetted technology.

Suspension & Brakes Of Honda CBR150R

Honda CBR150R uses telescopic shocks at the front while the rear is a monoshock one. 4-level adjustable monoshock suspension offers more dynamic and responsive road handling even in challenging road conditions. Brakes are discs at both the front and rear, sized 276mm at the front and 220mm at the rear. Most of the high end bikes in India now feature disc brakes like we have seen in Apache RTR 180, Bajaj Pulsar 220, Hero Honda Karizma ZMR & Yamaha R15. So, to cope with its rivals it was must for CBR150R to features disc brakes at front and rear.

Powerful High Performance Engine - CBR150R utilizes new 4-stroke engine technology with Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC), 4 valves, 6 gears and manual clutch, which delivers perfect combustion, 10,500 revolution per minute (rpm), excellent performance and maximum horsepower among the 4-stroke models in Malaysia.

Liquid Cooled System with Electric Fan - A first in sport model, the liquid cooled system of CBR150R is controlled by an automatic censor. Circulating coolant and a thermostat-controlled fan provide efficient cooling effect to prevent engine from overheating especially during heavy traffic and maintain the right engine temperature for optimum engine performance.

Constant Velocity Carburetor - CBR150R features an advanced Constant Velocity Carburetor, previously found only in big capacity bikes, to ensure perfect combustion and further boost engine performance.

Silent Chain - Deliver quieter performance with 2-3 times higher durability compared to conventional silent chain. It also saves on maintenance fee in the long run.
