Tata Curvv: A Glimpse into the Future of SUVs

The Tata Curvv is making waves as one of the most anticipated car launches from Tata Motors. Set to hit the market in the latter half of 2024, this SUV-coupe has been turning heads with its recent spy shots. Interestingly, an electric version of the Curvv will be launched before the internal combustion engine (ICE) variant.

Spy Shots Reveal Design Details

Even though the Tata Curvv ICE is still under wraps, the latest spy shots give us a sneak peek. The car sports a modern split-lighting setup with LED daytime running lights just below the hood. The design also features a unique triangular housing for the headlights and fog lamps, along with a stylish coupe-like roofline and sleek, flush-fitting door handles. The back of the car showcases connected LED taillights, adding to its futuristic appeal.

Inside the Tata Curvv

While we haven't seen the interior of the production model yet, expectations are high. It's likely to have a 4-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, similar to the Harrier. The SUV is also expected to come with a touch-based climate control panel, a large 12.3-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats, a sunroof, and a 10.25-inch digital driver's display. Safety features might include up to six airbags, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, electronic stability control (ESC), and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Powertrain Options

The Tata Curvv will offer both petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine is expected to produce 125 PS and 225 Nm, while the 1.5-litre diesel engine could offer 115 PS and 260 Nm. Transmission choices might include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic for the petrol variant.

The Curvv EV

Before the ICE version hits the market, Tata will launch the Curvv EV. It's based on Tata's Gen2 platform for electric vehicles and boasts an impressive claimed range of up to 500 km. However, more details about the electric powertrain are yet to be revealed.

Pricing and Competition

The Tata Curvv ICE is expected to be priced from Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Kia Seltos, and Volkswagen Taigun, offering a unique SUV-coupe alternative.
