Tata Curvv Spotted Next to Nexon: Showcasing Wider Build and Enhanced Features

The Indian automotive market's compact SUV segment is about to get more competitive with the introduction of Tata Motors' Curvv. Spotted beside the pre-facelift Nexon, the Curvv showcased a distinctive bronze shade, suggesting design inspiration from the Safari’s Supernova Copper or Cosmic Gold colors. This marks Tata Motors' first venture into the bustling compact SUV space, positioning the Curvv against formidable rivals like the Citroen Basalt, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and others.

Design and Dimensions

Revealed at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo, the Tata Curvv impressed with its stylish coupe roofline, extending beyond the 4m length barrier to compete in the compact SUV category. Unlike the Nexon, which it is based on, the Curvv introduces a significant increase in width, contributing to a more commanding road presence. This added width is not just about external measurements but is anticipated to enhance interior space and practicality as well, making for a more substantial appearance.

Feature Enhancements

Tata Motors seems to have gone the extra mile with the Curvv, potentially increasing the wheel track to match its increased girth or offering negative offset wheels to accentuate its wide stance. Additionally, the Curvv is expected to feature a suite of enhanced interior amenities akin to those in the Nexon, including electrically adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood, the Curvv is likely to share its powertrains with the Nexon, including the 1.2L 3-cylinder Turbo Petrol engine and the 1.5L 4-cyl Diesel engine. With gearbox options ranging from a 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, to a 7-speed DCT, there's speculation whether the Curvv will feature an upgraded tune for the petrol engine, offering 125 PS and 225 Nm.

As the Tata Curvv gears up for its market debut, its enhanced dimensions, added features, and potentially upgraded powertrains set it apart from the Nexon, signaling Tata Motors' ambitious plans to capture a significant share of the competitive compact SUV segment.
