Tata Motors is about to unveil the much anticipated Curvv, a big addition to their roster of cars with both conventional and electric powertrain options. The launch of the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) version of the Curvv is expected by the end of 2024, while the electric variant (Curvv EV) is set to debut in the second quarter of the fiscal year 2024-25.

Recently leaked spy shots have offered a glimpse into the exterior and interior of this upcoming Tata SUV. The Curvv, which will enter the compact SUV segment, will take design cues from popular Tata vehicles like the Nexon, Punch, Harrier, and Safari. The Curvv EV will expand Tata's electric vehicle offerings which already include the Tigor, Tiago, Altroz, Nexon EV, and the newly launched Punch EV.

The Curvv's exterior is marked by connected LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) reminiscent of those on the Nexon EV, paired with design elements like the grille and headlamp housing that nod to the Harrier and Safari. It features a coupe-style roofline, pronounced wheel arches, flush door handles, and piano black cladding, all mounted on eye-catching 18-inch alloy wheels. The latest spy images provided by enthusiasts Nandeesh, Sagar, and Ashwin showcase its commanding road presence and substantial ground clearance. Notably, a comparison with the Toyota Innova gives a clear perspective on its relative height.

Interior Design and Features

Inside, the Curvv offers a five-seater layout with a spacious 422-liter boot. The dashboard boasts dual-screen units for both infotainment and driver information, a two-spoke steering wheel with integrated controls, automatic climate control, powered ORVMs, a push-button start, and a wireless smartphone charging pad.

Safety provisions include a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, blind-spot monitor, tyre pressure monitoring system, and a robust six-airbag system. Additional Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) aim to enhance safety further, with Tata targeting a 5-star safety rating.

Power and Performance

The Curvv EV, which will launch first, will offer single and dual motor setups, available in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations, promising an impressive range of 400-500 kilometers per charge. The ICE version will feature a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine producing 123 horsepower and 225 Nm of torque, along with a 1.5-liter diesel engine that delivers 113 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque, each paired with options for manual and automatic transmissions. A CNG variant is also anticipated.

Pricing and Market Competition

The Curvv EV is expected to be priced around Rs 20 lakh, setting it up as a competitor to the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona EV, among others. The ICE model is likely to start from Rs 10-11 lakh, positioning it against popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder.
