It simply doesn’t make a big enough difference. You see real benefits with full hybrids or plug in hybrids.

As a hybrid S-Cross owner, I love the system. Not revolutionary but it does smooth out the driving experience.
Did Maruti miss a trick by not offering the S-Cross with AWD?
31 December 2024 09:20
Absolutely. The S-Cross would have had a unique selling point in its segment, thanks to AWD. Missed opportunity.
Did Maruti miss a trick by not offering the S-Cross with AWD?
31 December 2024 09:20
No, AWD is excess for Indian roads. It just would have added cost and made the vehicle less fuel efficient.
Did Maruti miss a trick by not offering the S-Cross with AWD?
31 December 2024 09:20
I think that it might have otherwise been a niche offering. Not for volume sales but in order to put the S-Cross in a more serious SUV contender perspective.

No one knows the Indian market better than Maruti. If they didn't offer AWD, then their research told them no one was demanding it.
Did Maruti miss a trick by not offering the S-Cross with AWD?

It could have had an AWD option to better go against the likes of Renault Duster AWD. It could have found a loyal niche audience.

31 December 2024 09:20
Face it, most Indian 'SUV' buyers just want the high seating position and macho looks. They don't give a damn about actual off road capability.
Did Maruti miss a trick by not offering the S-Cross with AWD?
31 December 2024 09:20
At least I wish they had offered it as an option on the top end variant. It would have been great for enthusiasts and those in hilly areas.

The S-Cross was left stranded in no man's land, not an SUV enough for SUV buyers, too expensive for hatchback upgraders.

Is the S Cross a premium NEXA experience or that of a Maruti overpriced?
31 December 2024 09:20
A glorified Maruti with some extra chrome slapped on is all it is. It is the same cheap plastics and rattly build quality like any other Maruti.
Is the S Cross a premium NEXA experience or that of a Maruti overpriced?
31 December 2024 09:20
The S-Cross actually had pretty good build quality and refinement for its segment, I don't agree. The 1.6 diesel was a gem of an engine.
Is the S Cross a premium NEXA experience or that of a Maruti overpriced?
31 December 2024 09:20
It's a mixed bag. The interior quality was definitely a step up from Arena models, but not really premium. The robust chassis and safety were the real value.
