About
The Tata Vista Concept S2 is a performance-oriented variant of the Tata Vista, showcased at the 2010 Auto Expo. It features a turbocharged 1.4 liter MPFI gasoline engine that produces 140 PS and 188 Nm of torque, significantly boosting its performance credentials. The exterior design includes large air scoops replaced by fog lamps, a new rear bumper, and large 8-spoke alloys, giving it a sporty yet practical look. Inside, it boasts a sports steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and Sparco bucket seats, enhancing its sporty appeal. The Concept S2 also includes a black and red interior theme, which contrasts with the standard Vistas beige treatment. Despite its impressive specs, the Concept S2 remained a concept and did not enter production, leaving it as a tantalizing glimpse of what could have been a high-performance variant of the Tata Vista.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Tata Vista Concept S2, showcased at the 2010 Auto Expo, is an intriguing blend of performance and style, but it remains more of a concept than a production-ready vehicle. While it boasts a turbocharged 1.4 liter MPFI gasoline engine producing 140 PS, which is a significant upgrade from the standard Vista, the execution of its design elements is mixed. The sports steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and Sparco bucket seats add a touch of sportiness, but the overall design, particularly the eyelids on the headlamps, feels somewhat lacking in finesse. The Concept S2s practicality is enhanced by features like large 8-spoke alloys and a more subdued exterior design compared to its 2010 predecessor. However, since this is not a production model, its more of a tease for performance enthusiasts rather than a viable purchase option.
Price
The Tata Vista Concept S2 was never put into production, so there is no official pricing for this model in India. If we were to speculate based on the enhancements and the sporty features it offers, it would likely have been positioned above the standard Vista models. Given the standard Vistas pricing around 7 lakhs in 2014, the Concept S2 could have been priced in the range of 9-11 lakhs ex-showroom, considering the additional performance and cosmetic upgrades. However, this remains purely speculative since the Concept S2 never made it to the market.

The Tata Vista Concept S2s interior was designed with performance driving in mind, featuring a sports steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and Sparco bucket seats. The black interior with red accents added to the sporty and racy feel of the vehicle. This attention to detail made the car stand out from its standard counterpart.

Despite the cosmetic changes, the Vista Concept S2 still lacked some excitement as a true sports machine. The changes, while practical, made the car look more like a production-ready version rather than a concept. I think Tata could have pushed the boundaries further to make it more appealing to enthusiasts.

The engine of the Vista Concept S2 was a highlight, with a TurboCharged 1.4 liter MPFI petrol engine producing 140 PS. This was a significant upgrade from the standard Fiat 1.4 liter, 95 PS Saffire engine. The performance potential of this engine was something that performance junkies would have loved to see in a production car.
Tuesday, 02 October 2012 03:00 PM
The Vista Concept S2s design changes included the removal of the prominent chin and the replacement of large air scoops with fog lamps. The rear bumper was also modified, but the overall design remained close to the standard Vista. This made the Concept S2 look like a feasible souped-up version of the standard car.
Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 10:04 AM
The mileage of the Tata Vista Concept S2 would have been a concern due to its powerful turbocharged engine. While the exact mileage figures are not available, its reasonable to expect that it would be lower than the standard diesel Vista, which offered around 15-20 kmpl. The Concept S2s gasoline engine, producing 140 PS, would likely deliver mileage in the range of 8-12 kmpl in real-world conditions, making it less fuel-efficient but more performance-oriented.
