Tata Nano Twist XT

About
The Tata Nano Twist XT is a compact city car that has been enhanced with several key features to improve its usability and appeal. The addition of electric power-assisted steering significantly reduces the effort required for maneuvering, especially in tight city spaces, thanks to its 4-meter turning radius. The car features a revised instrument cluster with LED gauges, a driver information system, and Bluetooth connectivity, although pairing the Bluetooth can be challenging. The interior is spacious, accommodating four adults comfortably, and includes amenities like front power windows, keyless entry, and a decent music system. The 624cc two-cylinder engine provides sufficient power for city driving but can feel underpowered on inclines or with a full load. Despite some limitations, such as limited boot space and lackluster braking performance, the Nano Twist XT remains a fun and practical choice for urban driving.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Tata Nano Twist XT is a significant improvement over its predecessors, particularly with the introduction of electric power-assisted steering (EPAS), which makes it one of the most effortless cars to drive in city conditions. The updated instrument cluster, keyless entry, and Bluetooth-enabled music system add to its appeal. However, the car still lacks in several critical areas such as safety features like airbags and ABS, and the braking performance is subpar, especially under emergency conditions. The engine, while adequate for city driving, feels underpowered at times, and the ride quality remains choppy. Despite these shortcomings, the Nano Twist XT offers excellent value for money, ample interior space, and a fun driving experience, making it a viable option for urban commuters.
Price
The Tata Nano Twist XT was priced at around Rs. 2.38 lakh ex-showroom in Delhi when it was launched. On-road prices would typically include additional costs such as registration, insurance, and other local taxes, which could push the total cost to around Rs. 2.7 lakh to Rs. 2.9 lakh, depending on the state and city. Given its features and the convenience it offers, the Nano Twist XT presents a compelling value proposition, especially for first-time car buyers or those looking for an affordable urban runabout.
Latest Updates
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 07:14 AM The Tata Nano Twist XT features a 624cc petrol engine, producing 37 horsepower and 51 Nm of torque. It comes with a manual transmission and has a fuel capacity of 24 liters. The car also includes features like central locking, front fog lamps, and a Bluetooth-activated music system. I think these features make it a decent option for its price.
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 12:02 PM In terms of design, the Tata Nano Twist XT retains its compact and economical look but comes with body-colored bumpers and a range of color options. The interior includes an air conditioner, power steering, and a multifunction display. These small touches make the car more appealing to budget-conscious buyers. I believe the design still holds up well for its segment.
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 02:20 PM The Tata Nano Twist XT has an on-road price of around Rs. 2.80 lakh in New Delhi, making it one of the most affordable cars in India. This pricing, combined with its fuel efficiency and compact size, makes it an attractive option for first-time car buyers. I think its a great entry-level vehicle.
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 10:51 AM Safety features in the Tata Nano Twist XT are somewhat limited, with no ABS, traction control, or cornering ABS. However, it does come with central locking, child lock, and front drum brakes. While its not the safest car on the road, its still a reliable option for short trips and city driving. I believe more safety features would have made it more competitive.
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 04:47 PM The Tata Nano Twist XT has a kerb weight of 735 kg and a ground clearance of 180 mm, making it suitable for navigating Indian roads. The car also features independent suspension at both the front and rear, which improves its ride quality. I think this suspension setup is one of the cars strong points.
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 03:18 PM In an effort to enhance the driving experience, the Tata Nano Twist XT includes features like a manual air conditioner, sun visors for the driver and passenger, and a multifunction display. These additions make the car more comfortable and convenient to drive. I believe these small comforts go a long way in enhancing the overall driving experience.
Thursday, 28 September 2023 10:13 PM Tata Motors has announced that it might discontinue the production of the Tata Nano, including the Nano Twist XT, due to new safety and emissions rules that would require significant investment. This decision is pending, but it looks bleak for the future of this affordable car. I think this is a sad end to a car that was once hailed as a revolutionary affordable vehicle.
Wednesday, 03 April 2019 08:35 PM Despite its improvements, the Tata Nano Twist XT has not seen significant sales in recent years. In 2019, Tata Motors did not produce a single unit of the Nano in three months, indicating a sharp decline in demand. This has raised questions about the cars future in the Indian market. It seems the market has moved on to other options.
Thursday, 12 July 2018 04:52 PM Despite the improvements, the Tata Nano Twist XT has faced challenges in meeting new safety and emission norms. This has led to speculation about its future in the Indian market. As of now, the car is available on order basis only. Its unclear how long this will continue.
Wednesday, 12 February 2014 11:20 PM The Tata Nano Twist XT has seen improvements over the years, with the most notable being the addition of power steering. This feature, developed by ZF in collaboration with Bosch, has made the car much more manageable in city driving conditions. Parking and low-speed maneuverability have become significantly easier. I believe this update was a game-changer for the Nanos usability.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 08:58 PM The Tata Nano Twist XT boasts an ARAI-certified mileage of 25.4 kmpl, which is quite impressive for a city car. In real-world city driving conditions, users have reported an average mileage of around 20 kmpl. This efficiency, combined with its small 15-litre fuel tank, means the car can cover distances of up to 300 km on a full tank, making it a cost-effective choice for daily commutes.

The Nano EV is equipped with a 72V architecture and super polymer lithium-ion batteries. It has a maximum range of 160 km on a single charge and the company claims it can reach 60 km/h in under 10 seconds. Ratan Tata first tested the car in August 2020, and he was so impressed with its performance that he decided to gift it to himself. This is a great example of how electric cars are becoming more popular and accessible.
