Latest Updates
Tuesday, 31 December 2019 03:30 PM By the end of 2019, Tata Motors had officially stopped producing the Tata Nano, with zero production and sales recorded in the last few months of the year. This marked the end of an era for a car that was once hailed as a revolutionary affordable vehicle.
Tuesday, 01 October 2019 07:57 PM By October 2019, it was clear that the Tata Nano would not meet the updated crash test norms or the BS-VI emission norms, further solidifying its discontinuation. The company had no plans to invest in upgrading the model to meet these stringent regulations.
Monday, 01 April 2019 07:36 AM In 2019, Tata Motors admitted that the Nano, in its current form, would not comply with the new safety regulations and emission norms. This admission came as the company struggled to justify continued production of a model that was no longer viable.
Thursday, 31 January 2019 10:19 AM By January 2019, Tata Motors had decided to discontinue the Tata Nano due to the inability to meet new safety norms, including the mandatory installation of Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) from April 1, 2019. The company found it financially unviable to upgrade the Nano to comply with these regulations.
Monday, 31 December 2018 11:25 PM In the final months of 2018, sales of the Tata Nano hit an all-time low, with only three units sold in June and a total of 310 units sold between July and December. This poor sales performance further solidified the decision to discontinue the model. I think the lack of significant updates and the negative publicity early in its life really hurt the Nanos chances.
Friday, 31 August 2018 04:09 PM In August 2018, Autocar India reported that Tata Motors had made the decision to end production of the Tata Nano. This decision was largely driven by the impending safety and emission norms that the Nano could not meet without significant investment.
Sunday, 31 May 2015 02:06 PM The Tata Nano GenX, introduced in May 2015, featured several updates including a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT), electric power steering, air conditioning, and Bluetooth radio. These changes were aimed at reviving the models sales, but ultimately did not achieve the desired results. I believe these updates were a step in the right direction, but they came too late to save the Nano.
Sunday, 31 May 2015 12:51 PM The Tata Nano GenX saw some design enhancements, including new colors, alloy wheels, and a strengthened body with changed front and rear bumpers. However, these cosmetic changes were not enough to boost sales significantly. I think the design updates were a good effort, but the core issues remained unaddressed.
Monday, 16 March 2009 01:15 AM Despite the initial hype and the goal of being an affordable car for the middle class, the Tata Nano faced numerous challenges, including instances of the car catching fire and intense political and farmer protests against the original production site in Singur, West Bengal. These issues significantly impacted the cars reputation and sales.
Sunday, 15 March 2009 12:20 PM The Tata Nano was launched in March 2009 with an initial price close to Rs 1 lakh for the basic model, despite cost escalations. However, the companys insistence on keeping the price low led to it being marketed as the cheapest car, which ultimately backfired. I think positioning it as just the cheapest car undervalued its other qualities.

Tata Nano GenX (2019) Review

19 May, 2015 11:42 AM

Synopsis

Tata has been busy in the quest of making an ultra-affordable car and this time, with the increase in demand for the AMT's, the cheapest car has turned into an automatic version of the Nano. Tata seems to be an expert now in making affordable vehicles and with its Nano scoring 1 mark more than the previous version in each update. This time, the update has not just gone cosmetic; it’s more onto the comfort of the driver and the passengers.

The GenX Nano has been built on the same platform, as the Nano Twist was made. With the introduction of power steering last time, the ever growing project has moved to a new phase. Increased urban traffic had made it uneasy for many to ride in the city, which made the automatic gearbox equipped vehicles so popular among the society.

No doubt, it was counted as a luxury one time, but with each passing day, every luxury will be a need one day. Tata understood the truth of the changing society and entered the right place at the right time. This is the last move of Tata motors to make its Nano work. Otherwise, the cute little piece of automobile world would not take much time to be a part of history. Well these were some talks of the past with the future, and now we move to some tech specs for the newly arrived.

Engine & Performance

The GenX Nano gets the same 624cc, 2-Cylinder engine, producing 37.5 BHP @ 5500 rpm and a torque value of 51 NM @ 4000 rpm. The Nano's best feature till date has been implied this time in the form of the new automatic gearbox, which has made it the cheapest automatic in the world, but this time, Tata motors will keep the use of this word 'cheapest' in a limited manner only. Also the new fuel tank for the Nano has a capacity of 24 litres and the total extended range of Nano has made it suitable for long trips now.

Exterior

Styling has been equally updated, with its new face which seems to be smiling and saying that it’s my time now. The headlights are smoked a bit, with a newly designed bumper with integrated fog lamps. The rear gets the same styling as the front and the new grill suits the peppy image of our cute little Nano. The body seems to be refreshed with minor changes in nearly every part, where they were required. The grill has been named as infinity grill and presents the Nano in a totally new style.

Interior

The interior of the Nano remains nearly the same, but the gear lever for the new AMT is covered with chrome, making its presence felt. The best of all, Nano EasyShift gets a sport mode in the gearbox, which seems impossible, but is there to work. The shifts change their intervals as soon as the sports mode is pressed. The interior seems to be very simple, with the power window buttons on the center console, which seems to be an odd decision. Tata Nano AMT has the same old music system which comes with USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity. Also a 4 speaker set has been installed on the new Nano for an excellent listening experience of the passengers.

Shades & Ex-showroom Price

The new Nano comes with a wide range of shades namely Pearl White, Damson Purple, Meteor Silver, Dazzle Blue, Royal Gold and the new Sangria Red option. It is available in the same XE, XM and XT trims, with the automatic versions called as XMA and XTA. It has been priced between INR 1.99-2.89 lakh.

Fantastic Car

I am having Tata Nano GenX XT. Earlier I was having Tata Nano LX. So I am using this car since 4 years. It's very easy and convenient to drive in traffic on urban roads as well as on highways. I have done many long drives in this car with maximum of 300 kms at a stretch.car is very comfortable at speeds 80 - 90 km/ h. I think this is sufficient speed for any road. shock absorbers have been improved considerably when compared to nano lx. It has very effective AC and sound system.it's a very practical car.don't expect more from this low budget car.before comparing please look at its price. If u want a car for practical use go for it.

Best Features: Fantastic car

Pros: Small size, more interior space and a practical car for a nuclear family in urban as well as highway roads

Cons: Unstable after 90 km/ h, quite natural because of light weight.
