Nissan Terrano Diesel Automatic
General information and overview
The Nissan Terrano Diesel Automatic is essentially a Renault Duster in a more premium and stylish package. It features a 1.5-litre diesel engine available in two states of tune 85PS200Nm and 110PS245Nm, with the higher spec variant coupled to a 6-speed manual or an AMT transmission. The vehicle boasts a ground clearance of 205mm, making it well-suited for Indian roads. It comes with several convenient features such as cruise control, automatic climate control, and a 7-inch touchscreen audio system with navigation. The Terrano also offers a spacious interior, humongous boot space, and a comfortable ride quality, making it an excellent choice for both city and highway driving. Its hydraulic steering, though requiring some adjustment, provides a unique driving feel, and the overall build quality ensures it can handle rough roads with ease.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Nissan Terrano Diesel Automatic is a solid choice for those seeking a comfortable and reliable SUV for both city and highway driving. Its diesel engine, particularly the 1.5-litre unit producing 110PS and 245Nm of torque, offers great driveability and efficiency, with minimal turbolag and excellent NVH levels. The vehicle inherits the robust build and supple ride quality of the Renault Duster, but wraps it in a more stylish and premium package. However, it lacks some modern features like projector headlamps and rain-sensing wipers, which might be a drawback for some buyers. Overall, its ease of handling, massive ground clearance of 205mm, and practical cargo space make it a compelling option, especially for those prioritizing comfort and durability.
Recent news and announcements
The Nissan Terrano diesel automatic is expected to get further feature upgrades, including a 7-inch touchscreen audio system with navigation and cruise control. These features are designed to enhance the overall driving experience and keep the vehicle competitive in the market. I think these updates will help in maintaining the vehicles appeal to modern buyers.
Nissan has been offering various benefits and special interest rates to enhance sales of the current Terrano models, including the diesel automatic variant. These offers include benefits of up to Rs 80,000 and a special interest rate of about 7.99%. This is part of the companys strategy to clear out existing stock. I believe these offers can be quite attractive to potential buyers looking for a good deal.
The Nissan Terrano diesel automatic offers a comfortable ride with minimal body roll, making it a pleasure to drive on highways. The 6-speed AMT transmission coupled with the 110PS diesel engine provides a smooth and powerful drive. This combination is ideal for long-distance drives. I think the comfort and stability of this vehicle make it perfect for road trips.
The prices of the Nissan Terrano, including the diesel automatic variant, are set to increase by 5% from January 2020. The current prices start from Rs 10 lakh and top out at Rs 14.65 lakh for the top XV diesel AMT variant. This price hike is part of the companys strategy to adjust to market conditions. I believe this price increase might affect sales, but the vehicles features and performance still make it a strong contender.
Nissan Terranos diesel automatic variant benefits from its massive ground clearance of 205mm, which is more than sufficient for Indian roads. The vehicle also features ESP with Hill Start Assist, making it more stable and easier to handle on steep slopes. This makes the Terrano a reliable choice for various road conditions. I think the ground clearance and stability features are significant advantages for this SUV.
Pricing details and changes
The Nissan Terrano Diesel Automatic is priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price for the top variant, the XV Premium Diesel AMT, starts at around Rs. 14.65 lakh. However, once you factor in the on-road costs, including taxes, registration, and insurance, the price can go up to approximately Rs. 17-18 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. While this is on the higher side compared to some of its rivals, the Terranos premium feel, better interiors, and robust build justify the additional cost. Its important to note that prices can vary slightly based on location and any ongoing promotions or discounts.
Fuel efficiency information
The Nissan Terrano Diesel Automatic offers impressive fuel efficiency, making it a cost-effective choice for long-term ownership. With an ARAI-certified mileage of 19.61 kmpl, this SUV is one of the more fuel-efficient options in its segment. In real-world driving conditions, you can expect a mileage of around 16-18 kmpl, which is quite satisfactory given its size and capabilities. This makes the Terrano an excellent choice for those concerned about running costs and mileage.

Planned for launch... Please LAUNCH soon...
We are waiting.. And are excited about this NEWS…Renault should launch
Duster Diesel Automatic in September ahead of Festive season, to cash on… There is immense interest in Automatic and
Hyundai Creta has reported over 30% bookings of Automatic version and they have
made changes in their production plans accordingly, infact they were much
surprised by the automatic requirement, having expected only 10% of the total bookings..
It means of the 28000 bookings Hyundai Creta has received 9000 bookings are for
Automatic itself, which is a significant number and completely new opportunity
....The waiting period for Creta Automatic has gone upto 11 months as per the
dealer I spoke to in Mumbai……!!!!!!
