About
The Nissan Terrano 4x4 is essentially a Renault Duster in a more stylish and premium package. It inherits the Dusters robust build and abuse-friendly nature but enhances it with a more mature design and better interiors. The Terrano features a refined and powerful 1.5L diesel engine producing 108 bhp, which is adequate for both city driving and highway cruising. The SUV comes with a range of features including a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, leather upholstery, and safety equipment like ESP and hill launch assist. The 205mm ground clearance and comfortable ride quality make it well-suited for Indian road conditions. While it may lack some modern features, the Terranos overall package of style, comfort, and practicality makes it a strong contender in its segment.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Nissan Terrano 4x4 is a compelling option for those seeking a stylish and robust SUV that excels in both city and highway driving. Its mature design, which is often praised for being more premium than its cousin, the Renault Duster, is a significant draw. The Terrano boasts outstanding ride quality, making it comfortable over various road conditions, and its 205mm ground clearance is more than sufficient for navigating Indian roads. However, the interior quality, while better than the Duster, falls short of expectations given the price. The absence of modern features like projector headlamps and rain-sensing wipers might also be a deterrent for some buyers. Despite these shortcomings, the Terranos easy handling, balanced dynamics, and fuel-efficient diesel engine make it a solid choice for those prioritizing comfort and practicality.
Price
The Nissan Terrano 4x4, although discontinued in some variants, was priced competitively in its segment. The ex-showroom price for the top-of-the-line XV trim with the 4x4 option would have been around Rs. 14.65 lakhs. On-road prices, including taxes and other costs, would typically range from Rs. 17 to 18 lakhs, depending on the state and local taxes. While the pricing is on par with other SUVs in its class, such as the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster, the Terranos premium feel and robust build justify the cost. However, the lack of advanced features might make some buyers question the value for money.

Nissan has announced the start of pre-booking for the new Terrano 6 Speed Advanced Auto Drive, but there is no confirmation yet on the 4x4 variant. However, the upcoming model is expected to boast advanced off-road capabilities, which could include a 4x4 option. I think this would be a great addition to the Terrano lineup, making it more competitive in the SUV market.

The Nissan Terrano 4x4 has been a topic of speculation, with many hoping it will be introduced in India soon. Historically, the Terrano 4x4 was launched in Russia, suggesting that Nissan has the capability to produce such a variant. If it comes to India, it would likely be priced higher than the current models, possibly around Rs. 15-16 lakh. I believe this would be a welcome move, given the growing demand for 4x4 SUVs in the country.

In the past, Nissan India has seen significant sales growth thanks to the Terrano, and a 4x4 variant could further boost these numbers. The Terranos success in January 2014, with a 29% sales increase, highlights its potential in the Indian market. A 4x4 version would appeal to off-road enthusiasts and could capture a larger market share.

The 2017 Nissan Terrano facelift introduced several cosmetic and feature updates, but it did not include a 4x4 option. However, the updates did make the vehicle more appealing, with a new dual-tone cabin and a 7-inch infotainment system. If a 4x4 variant is introduced, it would likely build on these improvements. I think adding 4x4 capability would make the Terrano a more robust offering.

Nissan launched the Terrano Groove limited edition in 2015, but it did not feature 4x4 capabilities. This special edition was priced at Rs. 11.45 lakh and offered additional features at no extra cost. A future 4x4 variant could follow a similar strategy, offering more value to customers.

The Nissan Terrano Anniversary Edition, launched in 2014, was available in two diesel variants but did not include a 4x4 option. These special editions were priced at Rs. 12.38 lakh and Rs. 13.13 lakh, respectively. A 4x4 variant would likely be positioned as a premium offering within the Terrano lineup.

Nissan launched the Terrano SUV in Russia in 2014, which included a 4x4 version. This Russian model was similar to the one available in India but with some changes. There has been speculation that this 4x4 variant could be introduced in India as well, given its popularity in other markets.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 05:43 PM
The Nissan Terrano 4x4 offers respectable mileage, especially considering its size and capabilities. The diesel variant, which is the most popular, provides a mileage of around 19.61 kmpl, according to the manufacturers specifications. In real-world conditions, you can expect a mileage of about 15-17 kmpl, which is commendable for an SUV of its class. This makes the Terrano a viable option for those concerned about running costs, as it balances performance with fuel efficiency.

Nissan Terrano 4x4 Discussion
Looks are impressive. Definitely better than other SUV's of the same range. The engine is refined and powerful producing 108 bhp for a smaller 1400 cc engine. I am certain that this feature rich SUV will be a big hit in the Indian market with competitive prices like they are offering now.
