Our take on this /// Verdict
The Honda City, particularly in its anniversary edition, is a testament to the models enduring legacy in the Indian market. Despite the rising popularity of SUVs, this sedan remains a compelling choice for those who value driving dynamics, fuel efficiency, and practicality. The 1.5L i-VTEC engine is a standout, offering a thrilling driving experience with its high-revving capability and improved mid-range torque. The CVT gearbox, though it may exhibit a slight rubber-band effect, makes the car incredibly easy to drive, especially in urban conditions. The City also boasts excellent ground clearance, comfortable seating, and good ergonomics, making it a solid option for daily use. However, it does have some drawbacks, such as the lack of advanced features like ventilated seats and a 360-degree camera, and some minor issues with road noise and camera resolution. Overall, the Honda City anniversary edition is a reliable, efficient, and enjoyable car that still holds its ground in the mid-size sedan segment.
Price
The price of the Honda City anniversary edition in India varies depending on the trim and transmission chosen. The ex-showroom price for the base variant starts around 11.5 lakh and can go up to around 16.5 lakh for the top-of-the-line variant. On-road prices, including taxes and other costs, can range from approximately 13.5 lakh to 19.5 lakh. While these prices are competitive within the mid-size sedan segment, the top variants do come with a premium tag. However, considering the Citys reputation for reliability, its robust feature list, and the overall driving experience, it offers good value for money. Its worth noting that the prices can vary slightly depending on the state and local taxes.
Latest Updates
Sunday, 03 November 2024 09:20 AM
The Honda City is set to receive a minor facelift for the 2025 model, which will be introduced in India after its debut in Brazil on November 9. The new design features a sleeker front fascia with a tweaked grille, sharp all-LED headlights, and a revised front bumper. The interior will include a semi-analogue instrument cluster, a 7-inch TFT digital display, and advanced safety features like ADAS and six airbags. I believe these updates will help the City stay competitive in the market.

Honda Car India is preparing to launch limited-edition models of the Elevate SUV and City sedan, known as the Elevate Dark and City Sports editions. These models will feature cosmetic changes, with the City Sports edition likely to include enthusiast-focused design updates. I think these special editions could attract buyers looking for something unique.

In its fifth generation, launched in July 2020, the Honda City has become more spacious and technologically advanced. It features a sophisticated design, a strong hybrid (e:HEV) version, and advanced safety features like ABS, EBD, and multiple airbags. The City continues to be a leader in the sedan market, though its sales have been impacted by the growing SUV segment. I think the hybrid version is a smart move to appeal to eco-conscious buyers.

Honda has historically celebrated significant milestones of the City with special editions, such as the 10th Anniversary Edition of the City ZX V-TEC, which was loaded with safety and luxury features including a G-Con body, ABS, SRS Airbags, and plush leather interiors. Such editions have always been well-received by loyal customers. I believe these special editions add a touch of exclusivity that fans love.

The Honda City has completed 25 years in the Indian market, marking a significant milestone. Over its quarter-century run, the City has seen five generations, with notable improvements such as the introduction of a diesel engine in the fourth generation and a strong hybrid in the fifth. The City remains a top choice in the mid-size sedan segment despite declining sales due to the rise of SUVs. I believe the Citys enduring popularity is a testament to its quality and performance.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 01:46 AM
When it comes to mileage, the Honda City is highly efficient. With the 1.5L i-VTEC engine, you can expect around 15.5 kmpl in city driving conditions, and this can go up to nearly 17 kmpl with more conservative driving and the use of the Eco mode. This fuel efficiency is significantly better than what most SUVs in the same price range offer, making the City an attractive option for those concerned about running costs.
