About
The Honda City Diesel SV is a well-rounded sedan that excels in several key areas. It features a 1.5-litre four-cylinder iDTEC diesel engine, producing 98bhp and 200Nm of torque, paired with a smooth six-speed manual transmission. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, with ample head and shoulder room, thin A-pillars for good visibility, and supportive seats. The car also comes with modern features such as an all-digital instrument cluster, cruise control, and rear AC vents. The suspension manages to absorb small irregularities well, though it can feel a bit stiff over sharper edges. The steering is well-weighted and direct, making it a joy to drive both in city traffic and on highways. With its reliable performance, comfortable ride, and excellent fuel efficiency, the Honda City Diesel SV remains a top choice in the sedan segment in India.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Honda City Diesel SV is a compelling choice for those seeking a reliable, comfortable, and fuel-efficient sedan. On the inside, the City boasts a modern and well-designed cabin with an all-digital instrument cluster, a chunky steering wheel, and supportive seats that offer excellent ergonomics. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder iDTEC diesel engine, though retained from the previous model, is refined and silent at idle, with ample grunt once the turbo kicks in. The six-speed manual transmission is smooth and easy to use, making it suitable for both city commutes and long-distance drives. However, the ride can be a bit stiff over sharper edges, and the brakes could benefit from better feedback. Overall, the City is a fun-to-drive sedan with excellent fuel efficiency, making it a strong contender in its segment.
Price
The Honda City Diesel SV is priced competitively in the Indian market. As of the current date, the ex-showroom price for the Honda City Diesel SV in India is around 12.5 lakhs to 13.5 lakhs, depending on the region. When you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other charges, the price can range from 15 lakhs to 17 lakhs. This pricing makes the City an attractive option, especially considering its feature-loaded package, comfortable ride, and reliable performance. The premium feel and the array of modern features justify the slightly higher cost compared to some of its competitors.
Latest Updates
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 12:45 PM
The Honda City Diesel SV, although not currently available with a diesel engine in the latest models, was previously a popular choice for its fuel efficiency and performance. However, Honda has shifted focus towards petrol and hybrid models, leaving the diesel variant out of the current lineup. I think this shift is a response to the growing demand for more environmentally friendly options.

In the past, the Honda City Diesel SV was praised for its stability at highway cruising speeds and the frugality of the diesel engine. However, with the current market trends favoring petrol and hybrid vehicles, the diesel variant has been discontinued. I believe this decision aligns with the industrys move towards more sustainable options.
Wednesday, 25 September 2024 12:22 PM
The Honda City Diesel SV used to be a strong contender in the C-segment sedan market, known for its comfortable ride and good engine options. However, with the rise of compact SUVs and the decline in sedan sales, Honda has adjusted its product lineup, focusing less on diesel variants. I think this adjustment is necessary given the changing consumer preferences.

For those who still own a Honda City Diesel SV, maintenance costs are a consideration. The average maintenance cost for the Honda City over 5 years is around Rs. 35,858, which is relatively reasonable compared to other sedans in its class. I believe this makes the City a reliable choice for long-term ownership.

Although the Honda City Diesel SV is no longer in production, it still holds a reputation for its driving dynamics and premium quality interiors. The City has always been known for its refinement and comfort, making it a favorite among sedan enthusiasts. I think its legacy continues to influence Hondas design and engineering.
Thursday, 20 June 2024 05:04 PM
In previous years, the Honda City Diesel SV was available with a manual transmission, offering good fuel efficiency with an ARAI claimed mileage of around 24.1 kmpl. This made it an attractive option for those looking for a fuel-efficient sedan. I believe such features were key to its popularity.
Saturday, 25 May 2024 08:51 AM
The discontinuation of the Honda City Diesel SV has led to a shift in consumer interest towards other variants, such as the petrol and hybrid models. Honda has introduced new features and technologies in these models to keep up with market demands. I think this strategic move will help Honda stay competitive.
Monday, 15 April 2024 07:19 PM
For existing owners of the Honda City Diesel SV, Hondas extended warranty programs can provide peace of mind. Recently, Honda introduced a 7-year, unlimited kilometre extended warranty program, which can be beneficial for those looking to extend their vehicles coverage. I believe this is a great initiative by Honda.

The Honda City Diesel SV, despite being discontinued, still has a loyal following due to its performance and reliability. However, the lack of an automatic transmission in the diesel variant was a drawback for some potential buyers. I think this limitation contributed to its eventual discontinuation.
Tuesday, 20 February 2024 02:07 AM
In the Indian market, the Honda City Diesel SV faced stiff competition from other sedans like the Hyundai Verna and Skoda Slavia. The rise of compact SUVs further reduced the demand for sedans, leading to the decline of the Citys diesel variant. I believe this competitive landscape played a significant role in Hondas decision.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 04:08 PM
The Honda City Diesel SV is renowned for its excellent fuel efficiency, which is a significant factor for many buyers in India. Honda claims a fuel efficiency of 24.1 kmpl, but in real-world conditions, you can expect around 20-22 kmpl in mixed driving conditions. This makes the City an economical choice for daily commutes as well as long road trips, helping to keep running costs low.
