USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Honda City Anniversary Edition Diesel is a solid choice for those seeking a reliable and feature-packed sedan. The 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine, although not the most refined, offers excellent driveability and low-end torque, making it an efficient urban-commuter and highway cruiser. However, the high noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels are a notable drawback. The car compensates with its spacious cabin, comfortable seating, and ample storage space. Features like cruise control, a sunroof, and a smart key with true keyless entry enhance the overall driving experience. Despite some minor issues with paint quality and build, the Citys reliability and easy maintenance make it a compelling option.
Price
In India, the Honda City Anniversary Edition Diesel is priced around Rs. 14.16 lakh ex-showroom. When you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other charges, the price can escalate to approximately Rs. 17-18 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. This pricing positions the City competitively within its segment, offering a balance of features, performance, and reliability that justifies the cost. However, potential buyers should also consider the long-term costs, such as maintenance and fuel expenses, which are relatively manageable due to the cars efficient engine and low service costs.
Latest Updates
Wednesday, 08 March 2023 04:26 PM The 2023 facelift of the Honda City, including its diesel variant, has been updated to be RDE and E20 compliant, ensuring it meets the upcoming emission standards in India. This update also introduces Honda Sensing, a suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies, now available on both manual and CVT gearbox options. I believe this move will enhance the Citys appeal in a market increasingly focused on safety and environmental compliance.
Thursday, 20 October 2022 06:54 PM As part of its market strategy, Honda has been streamlining its model lineup in India, with the City and Amaze being the only sedans left after the discontinuation of other models like the Civic, CR-V, Jazz, WR-V, and the fourth-generation City. This focus on the City and Amaze indicates Hondas confidence in these models market appeal. I believe this consolidation will help Honda concentrate resources on its best-selling vehicles.
Saturday, 08 October 2022 06:15 PM Honda celebrated the 25th anniversary of the City in India, highlighting its journey from the first generation in 1998 to the current fifth generation. The City has maintained its position as a top mid-size sedan, with each generation bringing significant improvements in design, technology, and performance. I think the Citys enduring success is a testament to Hondas commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
Wednesday, 15 July 2020 03:04 PM The fifth-generation Honda City, launched in July 2020, marked a significant milestone with the introduction of a strong hybrid variant, alongside the diesel and petrol options. This hybrid version has been praised for its incredible fuel economy, making it a compelling choice in the Indian market. I think the hybrid option is a smart move by Honda to cater to the growing demand for fuel-efficient vehicles.
Wednesday, 01 January 2014 06:47 PM The fourth-generation Honda City, introduced in 2014, was the first to include a diesel engine option, powered by the 1.5-litre Earth Dreams i-DTEC turbodiesel engine. This addition significantly boosted the cars popularity, making it one of the best-selling City models in India. I believe the inclusion of a diesel engine was a strategic move that helped Honda tap into the diesel-dominated market segment.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 01:45 AM The Honda City Anniversary Edition Diesel offers impressive mileage, with an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 25.6 kmpl. Honda city diesel version is worst car in this segment . Always create problems and too much noisy cabin . Car's finishing is not up to the standard. I have bought this car in Feb. 2015 .

Best Features: AC Control panel

Pros: Style is good but finishing is very bad
