General information and overview
The Ford Aspire is a compact sedan tailored for Indian roads, combining style, safety, and efficient performance. It comes in petrol and diesel versions powered by engines ranging between 1.2L and 1.5L, offering a smooth driving experience with adequate power and torque. The cabin is spacious for a sub-4 meter sedan, with ergonomic seats and premium materials that provide comfort on long journeys. Features such as the SYNC3 touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, and safety essentials like dual airbags and ABS with EBD come as standard or from mid variants upwards. Its well-tuned suspension setup makes it suitable for varied road conditions, balancing ride comfort and handling stability. While it lacks some premium creature comforts like projector headlamps or leather accents in base trims, it compensates through reliability and ease of driving. The Ford Aspire remains a popular choice for buyers needing a comfortable, safe, and fuel-efficient sedan in a competitive price band.

Expert opinion and recommendation
The Ford Aspire in India offers a compelling package for buyers seeking a balanced compact sedan with strong performance and comfort. It stands out with its solid build quality, spacious interiors, and well-tuned suspension that handles both city potholes and highway cruising with finesse. The driving experience is engaging, marked by light clutch and steering action that makes it a pleasure in urban traffic. The availability of petrol and diesel variants with smooth engine performance and commendable mileage adds to its practicality. While some competitors may edge out in features like projector headlamps or leather-wrapped steering wheels, the Aspire compensates with essentials such as a touchscreen infotainment system, ABS with EBD, and dual airbags even in mid-level trims. The ride noise and rear headroom might be minor concerns for taller passengers, but overall, the car delivers commendable value for the price. Its robust after-sales service and reliable reputation further bolster its appeal. This makes the Ford Aspire a strong contender in the subcompact sedan segment in India, especially for buyers who prioritize driving dynamics, comfort, and economy together.
The Ford Aspire stands out as a practical and reliable choice in the subcompact sedan segment in India. Its comfortable ride quality, spacious cabin, and well-tuned suspension make it a strong contender for both city commutes and occasional highway trips. The car offers a good balance of features, safety, and value for money, especially in its higher variants which come equipped with SYNC3 infotainment, automatic headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers. The petrol and diesel engines deliver smooth performance, though the petrol automatic is missing in the top trim. The Aspire’s build quality and Ford’s service network add to its appeal, making it a solid pick for sedan buyers who prioritise comfort and practicality over flashy styling or cutting-edge tech.
Recent news and announcements
Ford has no plans to relaunch the Aspire in India, along with other models like the EcoSport and Figo. The company has decided to focus on T6 platform products, such as the Everest SUV and the Ranger pickup truck, and will not bring back smaller petrol or diesel models. This decision is due to the financial viability and the evolution of the mass-market segments in India.
There has been speculation about Fords return to the Indian market, but it is clear that the Aspire will not be part of this return. Ford sold its Sanand facility to Tata Motors, where the Figo and its derivatives were produced, and the Maraimalai Nagar facility in Tamil Nadu is not financially viable for retooling. This marks the end of Fords compact sedan offerings in India. I think this is a significant loss for consumers who appreciated the Aspires features.
Ford India had previously considered launching the Aspire sedan with a six-speed automatic gearbox, but this plan seems to have been shelved given the companys current strategy. The focus has shifted towards more premium and technologically advanced vehicles.
The Ford Aspire was available in India in petrol and diesel variants, with prices starting at Rs. 7.24 lakhs and going up to Rs. 8.73 lakhs (ex-showroom). The car featured keyless entry, airbags, and a fuel tank capacity of 42 litres. However, with Fords exit from the mass market segment, these options are no longer available. I believe the Aspire was a solid choice in its segment, offering good value for money.
In 2021, Ford India announced that it would halt its production in India, which included the Aspire. This decision was due to the companys struggles with profit margins and the overall viability of their operations in the country. The Aspire, along with other Ford models, was affected by this decision.
Pricing details and changes
In India, the Ford Aspire is priced between approximately ₹7.24 lakh and ₹8.69 lakh ex-showroom, varying by variant and engine choice, with the top Titanium Plus 1.5 TDCi diesel variant at the higher end. On-road prices, accounting for taxes, insurance, and registration, typically add ₹80,000 to ₹1,20,000 depending on the city. This pricing positions the Aspire competitively against rivals in the compact sedan segment, offering a well-rounded feature set at an affordable entry point. The brand’s strategy focuses on providing premium materials and safety features like ABS and airbags without inflating costs excessively. For budget-conscious buyers, the Aspire delivers both value and quality, making it a sensible purchase without compromising essentials. The pricing also makes it accessible for first-time sedan buyers or those upgrading from hatchbacks, providing a spacious and reliable option without straining finances.
The Ford Aspire in India is competitively priced, with the base petrol variant starting around ₹7.5 lakh ex-showroom, while the top-end Titanium Plus petrol variant is priced closer to ₹10.5 lakh ex-showroom. On-road prices typically range from ₹8.5 lakh to ₹12 lakh depending on the city and variant. The Aspire offers a well-equipped package even in its mid-level trims, making it a value-for-money proposition in its segment. The absence of a top-spec petrol automatic and diesel-auto combo does limit choices, but the overall pricing remains attractive for those seeking a feature-rich sedan without stretching their budget. Ford’s service network and parts availability also contribute to lower long-term ownership costs.
Fuel efficiency information
The Ford Aspire offers respectable mileage figures in India, with the petrol variant claiming around 18.5 km/l and the diesel variant delivering close to 24.4 km/l under ideal conditions. Real-world figures tend to be marginally lower but still competitive within the segment. This efficiency translates to lower running costs, making it a practical choice for daily commuting and long drives alike. Considering fuel prices in India, the Aspire’s fuel economy is a strong point for those focused on minimizing operating expenses.
The Ford Aspire delivers impressive mileage, with petrol variants averaging around 14-15 kmpl in real-world city and highway driving, while diesel models can achieve up to 22-24 kmpl. This makes the Aspire a cost-effective choice for buyers concerned about running costs and fuel efficiency. The engine tuning prioritises smoothness and reliability, ensuring consistent mileage even with regular use. For those prioritising low running costs and frequent long drives, the Aspire’s mileage performance is a strong selling point.

Expert Verdict
Professional reviews and expert opinions on Ford Aspire
Ford has been working from a long period of time, trying to refresh its Indian offerings. Finally it has arrived at a new, sub 4 meter sedan named Figo Aspire. Like the common market strategy, building a sedan on the hatch underpinnings like Suzuki's Swift & Dzire combo, Hyundai's Grand i10 & Xcent combo and Honda's Brio and Amaze combo, Ford India has also followed its new Sedan based on the 2015 Ford Figo Hatchback.
Ford has been struggling a long way to get one of its product the super hit tag and the aspiring contestant this time is the new Ford Figo Aspire. Being a compact sedan, it houses everything by utilizing even the smallest possible millimetre of the 4 meter range, making it ready for the fight in the Maruti Suzuki Dzire headed section of the automobile market. Ford has worked well this time, missing on not even a single issue and feature from their newcomer. The car has been priced very competitively @ Rs. 4.89 lakhs for the base petrol model, Rs. 5.89 lakhs for the base diesel model and Rs. 7.79 lakhs for the automatic petrol model with dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Exterior
The design has been shared with the next generation of Figo hatchback, the one which is yet to come to the Indian market. It comes with a fish face design, its chrome 4-lined grill resembling the mouth and its sparkling Punto type headlights to the eyes. Had it been a submarine, the comparison would have worked more effectively. The visuals are great and the first look would definitely make you stare at it again. The Aspire gets a wise use of chrome at the rear also but unfortunately, the same can be found on the Dzire as well as the other cars in the segment. The only thing which distinguishes the Aspire is its good looking rear lights and obviously, the Ford symbol. Designing has been done with full dedication in its case and it will surely make a mark on the charts.
Interior
The Figo Aspire gets the same interior as most of the sedans get; a black and beige combination with decent inserts on all the doors. The dashboard has been borrowed from the EcoSport, making it look good on their new sedan. Interior gets a lot of space and the seats are gently covered with beige all around. Being compact would not get into the comfort of the passengers as the car is loaded with features from the bottom to the top. The adjustable headrests at the back look good and the armrest adds to the passenger comfort. Quick storage options all around makes the car feels more close to the passengers.
Instrument Console
The Figo Aspire gets the same instrument console as the Ford's very own EcoSport. The dials are Blue and get a clean finish with no makeover done to it. The center part has the speedometer whereas the tachometer stays at the left. Fuel gauge and all other LEDs are placed in to the right portion, with its small display under the speedometer in the center console.
Infotainment System
The car gets a Ford multimedia system with Applink. The system is beautiful and comes with all the necessary input options like AUX, Bluetooth, USB, CD and Navigation, that too with voice control and Applink. The buttons have been arranged the same way as they were in the EcoSport and make the unit a fully utilizable part of the car. The car gets 4 speakers for a better surround sound feel and a roof antenna for Radio reception.
Engine & Performance
The strong part of the Figo Aspire is its powerful and responsive engine options. The car gets a total of 3 engine options, with 2 being petrol and 1 being a diesel one. The petrol motors are the 1.2 L Ti-VCT and 1.5L Ti-VCT. The first one produces 86.8 BHP and 112 NM of torque whereas the later produces 110.5 BHP and 136 NM of torque. The 1.5 L petrol engine gets the option of dual-clutch automatic transmission whereas for the other stays the manual gearbox. The most important engine would be the 1.5 L, 98.6 BHP diesel motor, producing 215 NM of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Comfort
The car gets all the comfort enhancing features of the segment, which include an automatic climate control system, power steering with audio and voice control buttons, 4.2 inch multi-functional display, power socket for mobile charging provision, power windows and a comfortable shade for interior. Follow me home headlamps make it easy to reach the destination while coming out of the car and the ORVM placed indicators make it easier to give directions. Even the day and night rear view mirror save the passengers from the harsh reflection of the light from the cars behind the Aspire.
Safety
The car becomes the safest of the segment by offering 6 airbags, which includes side and curtain airbags also. Even cars above the segment miss out on the number of airbags, making the Aspire more desirable and safe. The car gets auto door lock at 20 kmph, making it safe to stay inside. It gets ABS and EBD for better braking in the non-ideal road conditions. The central locking and smart key makes it safer and joy to ride.
Shades & Variants
The new Figo Aspire is available in 7 shades namely Oxford White, Ruby Red, Ingot Silver, Deep Impact Blue, Smoke Grey, Sparkling Gold and Tuxedo Black. The car is available in a total of 9 variants, 4 for 1.2 L petrol, 4 for 1.5 L diesel and 1 for the 1.5 L petrol with AT. The classification stays Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium Plus.
Ex-showroom Price
Ford Figo Aspire is priced very competitively @ Rs. 4.89 lakhs for the base petrol model, Rs. 5.89 lakhs for the base diesel model and Rs. 7.79 lakhs for the automatic petrol model with dual-clutch automatic transmission.
