Ford Endeavour Review
Synopsis
Ford has showcased the new Endeavour in most of its markets and everyone has praised its new and bold style statement, making it a more practical vehicle for all time activities. The revised shape makes it more proud and possessive than its earlier generation, putting all the competitors to shame with its outstanding performance and efficiency figures. The new Ford Endeavour has been launched in India with a starting price tag of INR 23,63,999.
Exterior
The first look will make you go crazy for the new Endeavour as its petal shaped front headlights have been exchanged with a mustang resembling, bright and impressive lights, with Ford's signature grill with 4 bold chrome lines. The front and rear gets a silver, rugged looking skid plate which are similar in design. The new 6-spoke alloy wheels look dominating in nature and perfectly matches with the roof rails and skid plate's shades. The car gets more like the 2014 Toyota Fortuner.
Dimensions and Weight
The new Ford Endeavour gets tailored dimensions as most of the cars evolve to be big whereas this machine has gone small in its size. The older version was quiet stretched and the fact has been ended in the new one. The older version measured 5060 mm in length, which has been reduced to 4892 mm. The weight has gone up to 2357 kg and the seating capacity has been kept 7. The width and height has been increased to 1860 mm and 1837 mm respectively. The ground clearance has gone up by 15 mm, making it 225 mm for the newcomer.
Interior
The car gets an all new and luxury wrapped interior than its earlier version. The driving position becomes more commanding with better length and the steering wheel and all the other components gets wrapped in leather. Chrome has been wisely used on the outlines of the rectangular air vents and a combination of 3 shades make the interior look much better than before. With excess of space for all the 7 passengers, the car gets perfect finishing on all its doors with a blend of beige and brown. The dashboard gets leather wrapped and fine stitching can be seen on front end of the same.
Engine and Gearbox
The new Endeavour gets 3 engine options internationally, with two of them launched to India. The first one is a 2.2 L Duratorq motor by Ford, which comes with a 4-cylinder layout and comes mated to a 6-speed manual as well as automatic gearbox. It produces a max of 157.8 BHP and 385 NM of torque. The second engine is a true power generator, a 3.2 L Duratorq motor with 5-cylinders, producing 197.5 BHP and 470 NM of torque. The power would be available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The car has really evolved with its power values and would definitely bring more success with its never ending hunger for more adventure. 4X4 trims are being offered in the smaller engine whereas all time 4x4 is available in both 3.2 L engine trims.
Safety Features
The new Endeavour's increase in weight is due to a better and safe chassis, made with high strength material and promising a safer structure to the passengers. It comes with airbags for all the seats, with side and curtain one's for more precise danger handling. It comes with ABS, EBD, ESP and all the necessary electronic safety features for a car of this size. It comes with parking camera and sensors for easy reverse and comes with hill start assist and descent control for easy all terrain driving. It comes with terrain selection option for better driving on mud, snow, mountains etc.
Comfort Features
Endeavour has always been for passenger comfort and this time it shows no lack for the same. The car gets enough leg room, headroom and shoulder room for every passenger, with AC vents for all the three rows and an automatic climate control for better temperature maintenance. It comes with a full touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation and all the necessary features like AUX, Bluetooth, USB and iPod connectivity. It gets rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, projector headlights with LED positioning lamps and many more features for enhanced comfort.
Variants and Shades
The Ford Endeavour is offered in 6 number of variants, including the two engine options. The other difference is the 4x2 and 4x4 variants and the option of automatic as well as manual gearbox. Trend and Titanium are the only level of trims available in the car. The shades for the newcomer are Diamond White, Panther Black, Smoke Grey, Moondust Silver, Golden Bronze and Sunset Red.
Ex-showroom Price
