Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Diesel 4x2 AT
Mitsubishi Variant
General information and overview
The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Diesel 4x2 AT is a formidable SUV that combines strong performance with comfort and practicality. Powered by a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine, it produces 175.6 Bhp and 350 Nm of torque, making it well-suited for both urban and off-road driving. The vehicle features a 5-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters, ensuring smooth and convenient gear changes. With a ground clearance of 215 mm and a fuel tank capacity of 70 liters, it is designed to handle various terrains with ease. The interior is spacious, with good leg space in the third row, although it feels a bit narrow for three adults to sit comfortably side by side. The SUV also comes with several comfort features, including dual auto air conditioning, rear AC vents, and power steering. Overall, the Pajero Sport is a reliable and powerful choice for those looking for a versatile SUV.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Diesel 4x2 AT is a robust and reliable SUV that stands out for its powerful engine, comfortable ride, and impressive off-road capabilities. From my experience, the 2.5-liter diesel engine delivers excellent performance, with 175.6 Bhp and 350 Nm of torque, making it adept for both city driving and rugged terrain. The ride quality is very comfortable, even on bad roads, thanks to its double wishbone suspension with coil spring setup. However, the vehicles age shows in its older-style interior and the lack of modern features like a rear camera and an advanced multimedia system. Despite these drawbacks, the Pajero Sport remains a great choice for those seeking a durable, high-performance SUV with good value for money.
Recent news and announcements
Mitsubishi has decided to discontinue the 4x2 variants of the Pajero Sport in Australia due to lack of demand. This move means that all new Pajero Sport models sold in Australia will be 4x4 only. This change reflects the markets preference for four-wheel drive capabilities in this segment. I think this decision aligns well with the vehicles off-road prowess.
The facelifted 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has been priced, with the base GLX five-seater starting at Rs. 38.5 lakh (approximately, based on Australian pricing) and the top-spec GSR seven-seater at Rs. 49.5 lakh (approximately). The update includes new exterior designs, more equipment on higher spec grades, and the deletion of 4x2 variants. I believe the new pricing makes it a competitive option in the 4x4 SUV market.
Mitsubishi has introduced a new sporty premium interior design for the 2024 Pajero Sport, featuring a two-tone black-burgundy color scheme and smoked titanium decorations. The exterior also gets dynamic and aggressive lines, along with new wheel designs. I believe these updates give the Pajero Sport a fresh and modern look.
The 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport comes equipped with advanced safety features, including Forward Collision Mitigation System, Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System, and Multi Around Monitor. These features are part of Mitsubishis Diamond Sense package, aimed at accident prevention and fatigue reduction. I think these additions significantly enhance the vehicles safety profile.
The 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport retains its strong off-road credentials with Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD II system, high and low range with locked centre differential, and a locking rear diff. This setup allows the vehicle to handle various off-road conditions with ease. I think this is where the Pajero Sport truly shines.
Pricing details and changes
The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Diesel 4x2 AT is priced at around 28,28,000 ex-showroom in India. When you factor in the on-road costs, including taxes, registration, and insurance, the price can go up to approximately 32-35 lakhs, depending on the state and local taxes. While it may seem expensive, the Pajero Sport offers a lot of value considering its powerful engine, spacious interiors, and robust build quality. It is also worth noting that it is cheaper than some of its key rivals, making it a competitive option in the SUV segment.
Fuel efficiency information
The mileage of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Diesel 4x2 AT is quite respectable, with city mileage around 10.6 kmpl and highway mileage around 13 kmpl. This makes it a reasonable choice for those concerned about running costs, especially given its powerful engine and the fact that it is a diesel variant. However, actual mileage can vary based on driving conditions and maintenance of the vehicle.
