The 2024 Kawasaki W175 Street has been launched in India, priced at Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom). This model features 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, new colour schemes including Candy Emerald Green and Metallic Moondust Grey, and a lowered seat height and ground clearance for improved comfort. The engine remains the same 177cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled unit. I think these updates will make the W175 more appealing to riders looking for a retro-style bike with modern conveniences.

The Kawasaki W175 is set to target a niche customer base in India, particularly those looking for a smaller capacity classic motorcycle. Unlike larger 300-400cc retro motorcycles, the W175 offers a 177cc, air-cooled engine and a lighter weight of 135 kg, making it more agile in city traffic. However, the limited number of Kawasaki dealerships might hinder its sales potential. I believe this bike could be a great option for daily commuting.

The Kawasaki W175 continues to be locally manufactured in India and features a simple yet elegant design, including a round headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and single-piece seat. The bike is powered by a 177cc, air-cooled engine producing 13 PS of power and 13.2 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed transmission. Its lightweight and ergonomic design make it comfortable for daily rides. I believe the W175s design is a perfect blend of retro and modern elements.

Prior to the 2024 updates, the Kawasaki W175 was priced between Rs 1.47 lakh and Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The new pricing strategy, which includes a price cut of up to Rs 25,000, aims to make the bike more competitive in the Indian market. This move could attract more customers to the retro-style motorcycle segment. I think this price adjustment is a smart move by Kawasaki.

The suspension system of the Kawasaki W175 consists of 30mm telescopic front forks and swingarm dual shock absorbers with adjustable spring preload at the rear. The braking setup includes a 220mm disc at the front and a 110mm drum brake at the rear. These features contribute to a smooth and responsive ride, making the W175 suitable for both city commutes and leisurely rides. I believe the suspension and braking system are well-tuned for its class.
