Hero Xtreme Sports (Old Model)

About
The Hero Xtreme Sports is a 150cc bike designed to cater to the needs of Indian riders who seek a balance between performance and practicality. It features a powerful engine with an increased compression ratio, resulting in more power and torque compared to its predecessor. The bike comes with dual disc brakes, which provide superior braking performance, and its suspension is adequate for handling Indian road conditions. The design is sporty, with clip-on handlebars and a comfortable seating position for both the rider and pillion. However, it lacks some modern features like an engine kill switch and gear indicator. Despite these omissions, the Xtreme Sports is known for its smooth ride, excellent ergonomics, and low maintenance costs, making it a popular choice among Indian bikers. Its weight and saddle height can be a bit challenging for shorter riders, but overall, it is a solid option for those looking for a fun and reliable ride.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Hero Xtreme Sports is a compelling option for those seeking a blend of performance, comfort, and reliability on Indian roads. While it may not match the refinement of Japanese brands, it brings back the excitement and thrill of riding that was characteristic of older models like the Hunk and CBZ Xtreme. The bikes engine is a standout, offering instant acceleration and smooth power delivery, although it does come with some vibrations. The handling is generally good, with comfortable seating and effective braking. However, there are some drawbacks, such as the lack of an engine kill switch, a somewhat awkward key placement, and gaps in the paneling that could pose issues in heavy rain. Despite these, the Xtreme Sports is a joy to ride, making it a great choice for those who value sporty performance and everyday practicality.
Price
The Hero Xtreme Sports, when it was available in the market, was priced competitively. The ex-showroom price for the dual disc variant was around Rs. 86,000, as noted in some reviews. On-road prices would typically include additional costs such as registration, insurance, and other local taxes, which could push the total to around Rs. 1.1 to 1.2 lakhs, depending on the state and city. This pricing makes the Xtreme Sports an attractive option for buyers looking for a powerful and feature-rich 150cc bike without breaking the bank. The value for money is enhanced by its reliable performance, low maintenance costs, and good fuel efficiency.
Latest Updates
Monday, 17 February 2020 12:33 AM Hero Motocorp has discontinued the Hero Xtreme Sports in India due to low sales and demand. The last batch of around 1,237 units was dispatched to dealers in November 2019. This move marks Heros exit from the 150cc motorcycle segment. The Xtreme Sports has been replaced by the Xtreme 200R and Xtreme 200S, which use a 200cc engine. I believe this shift towards higher capacity engines is a strategic move to compete in a more lucrative market segment.
Monday, 17 February 2020 12:43 AM The Hero Xtreme Sports faced stiff competition from other 150cc segment bikes like the Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZ S V3, which were selling significantly higher numbers. For instance, in December 2019, the Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZ S V3 sold around 1,400 and 9,000 units respectively, while the Xtreme Sports saw a steady decline. I think the competitive landscape played a crucial role in Heros decision to discontinue the model.
Monday, 17 February 2020 02:30 PM Along with the Xtreme Sports, Hero also discontinued the Karizma in India due to similar reasons of low sales and demand. This move indicates that Hero is focusing on its stronger segments, such as scooters and commuter motorcycles, while considering a shift towards performance products in the 300cc range. I believe this strategic realignment could help Hero regain market share in the future.
Sunday, 01 March 2015 01:46 PM In 2015, Hero launched the updated Xtreme Sports, which was not just a facelift but a motorcycle with significant mechanical changes. However, consumer preference remained with the pre-facelift model, indicating that the new version did not resonate as well with buyers. I believe that sometimes, sticking to what works can be more effective than introducing drastic changes.
Tuesday, 24 February 2015 05:02 PM The Hero Xtreme Sports was known for its reworked mechanicals introduced in 2015. The 149.2cc engine produced 15.4PS and 13.5Nm, making it a notable upgrade from its predecessor. Despite these improvements, the bike failed to gain significant traction in the market. I think the lack of innovation and competitive pricing might have contributed to its declining sales.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 08:28 AM The Hero Xtreme Sports offers impressive mileage, making it a cost-effective choice for daily commuters and long-distance riders. According to various reviews, the bike returns around 48-55 kmpl in city conditions and up to 62.3 kmpl on the highway, averaging out to about 51.6 kmpl overall. This fuel efficiency is a significant factor for buyers concerned about running costs, especially in a country where fuel prices can fluctuate. With such mileage, the Xtreme Sports is an excellent option for those who need a reliable and economical ride.

Service Centres does not do the proper work no changing of gear oil etc.mahim service Centre was my experience where I gave my bike for servicing. Buying this bike is a waste n very bad investment. While buying this bike we thought as it is an Indian company it will be good but this was not the case n u fooled us plzz don't do this.

Best Features: No best features as such coz spare parts starts to rust faster coz of low quality metal. As this an Indian company we purchased this bike now it's looking as a waste so buyers plzz don't buy this bike

Pros: Only the look

Cons: The mileage is not up to the mark it only gives 35-40 kmpl. As the speed crosses 50kmphr engine starts vibrating and it is too noisy. The chain loosens after every 15 days. Front disc brake is too noi
