Hero MotoCorp has launched the new Hero Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Splendor. The bike is priced at Rs 82,911 (ex-showroom) and features minor cosmetic updates, an LED headlamp with H-shaped DRLs, a digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB charging port. The Hero Splendor NXG was launched in 2007 with sporty looks, dual-tone body graphics, 5-spoke alloy wheels, and a metallic paint job. Although the NXG model did not gain much traction, it marked an attempt to appeal to younger buyers. I think the design was ahead of its time but didnt quite fit the markets needs then.

Initially launched in 1994, the Hero Splendor quickly became a best-seller in India due to its fuel efficiency and reliability. It was the successor to the Hero Honda CD 100 and marked a significant shift towards four-stroke engines in the Indian market. I think this was a game-changer for commuter bikes in India.
