Hero MotoCorp Ltd. is the largest two-wheeler manufacturing company of India. It was founded in 1984 as a joint venture between Hero Cycles and Japan's Honda and was known as Hero Honda. Its founder was Brijmohan Lall Munjal and they have their headquarters in New Delhi. Together, they gave a lot of legendary bikes to the Indian market before breaking up their ties in 2010. Hero MotoCorp Ltd. joined hands with USA's street and racing motorcycle manufacturing company, EBR (Erik Buell Racing) in July 2013 which will help them in investment and technological research. Recently, Hero MotoCorp Ltd. has unveiled 15 restyled products with exciting new features at a press conference in Gurgaon on October 10, 2013. One among them is their automatic scooter, new Hero Pleasure with IBS which is creating a lot of buzz among the customers of every age group due to its stylish new features and attractive design.

Engine and Gearbox

The new Hero Pleasure has the same 102cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, Air-cooled, CDI, OHC based engine with a maximum power of 7 bhp at 7000 rpm and a maximum torque of 7.85 Nm at 5000 rpm and has a Variomatic drive gearbox transmission. The new Hero Pleasure has a stunning and beautiful digital console consisting of an Analogue Fuel Gauge and Speedometer along with a Low Fuel Indicator.

The main feature which sets it apart from the other scooters and is used first in any scooter is its IBS (Integrated Braking System) which was developed by Hero MotoCorp Ltd's R&D department and will be included as a standard feature in the future scooters of Hero. It helps in activating both front and rear brakes by the press of right-hand side brake lever, thus acting as both a comfort and safety feature. The scooter also has Non-Asbestos type and Internal Expanding Shoe type Drum Brakes of 130mm diameter each at front and rear wheels. The suspension system consists of a Bottom Link with Spring-loaded Hydraulic Damper at front and a Swing Arm with Spring-loaded Hydraulic Damper at rear.

I am using this scooter from past three years and it is working fine without any issues. Initially the mileage was around 35 kmpl but after its first servicing it used to give around 45 kmpl. For rough and bad roads the suspension is pleasant. Pick up is also normal and goes smoothly on the economy speed range. It has adequate storage space and one can fill their helmet and still fit around 5kg of provision inside. The seat is large and and three persons can easily sit comfortably. Due to its light weight one can easily handle it easily in city traffic as well as on highway. The other good factor is its price which is quite affordable as compared to other scooters in this segment. The foot space also adds to the utility space. On the whole, it has more utility as compared to Access and Activa. Moving to the drawbacks, the paint quality and the plastic used is of inferior quality. You can see lots of scratches even after slight contact.

Best Features: Lightweight & Easy to Handle

Pros: Light weight, economical, good mileage, huge storage space, powerful engine, easy to handle

Cons: Bad paint quality

I am using Honda Pleasure from last three years. It is light in weight and comfortable to ride. It is easy to handle and it is suitable for youngsters as well as aged person. The thing which make it best for every age group is its height and weight. Yes, it vibrates after crossing speed of 70. So what I feel in my whole journey with this scooter is that, this machine is manufactured for smooth rides and slow speed lovers. It offers enough under seat storage for your daily stuff. Mileage wise, it is good and it delivers me 52-54 kmpl average on city roads. On the problematic side, I faced starting problem sometimes and in winters this problem is so frequent. Moreover, the material used on this scooter is not of good quality, I have to take extra care of it.

Best Features: Easy to handle

Pros: Looks, mileage, handling
