The Honda Shine was the third bestseller in the month, selling 1,30,000 units, with the Bajaj Pulsar 150 coming in at fourth place with 1,20,000 units sold. Hero MotoCorp's impressive streak of selling lakhs of two-wheelers, month-on-month, year-on-year has been a huge flex for the world’s largest bike maker. This was especially evident in December 2022 when Hero sold nearly twice as many two-wheelers as its former partner and closest rival, Honda.
Hero's success can be attributed to a wide range of affordable models like the Hero Splendor Plus, Glamour and Passion, as well as scooters like Pleasure and Maestro. With a variety of variants at different price points, Hero has tapped into a large chunk of the commuter market.
Honda, on the other hand, has one major advantage - the Activa 6G/Activa 125. This scooter alone helps Honda compete with Hero from time to time. Though the Honda Shine is the best-selling 125cc bike in India, its sales are nothing compared to the Activa's numbers.

The Hero Splendor Plus, one of the most popular commuter bikes in India, has received a minor price revision of up to Rs 1,500. This small increase in price can be seen as a sign of things to come, as other bike makers are likely to follow suit from the New Year. The Splendor Plus is an ideal bike for those looking for a reliable and affordable commuter, delivering great performance and reliability. With the price hike, it is still an attractive option for those looking to get a bike for their everyday ride.

This variant features a 97.2 cc engine, producing 8.02 PS and 8.05 Nm of torque, along with a mileage of 80.6 kmpl. It also includes features like a full-digital instrument console and a USB charging port. I believe these updates make the Splendor Plus even more appealing to budget-conscious buyers.

Honda has overtaken Hero MotoCorp to become the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India, as per the September 2024 sales report. Despite this, the Hero Splendor Plus remains one of the top-selling bikes in India. I think Hero will continue to be a strong contender in the market, given the Splendor Pluss enduring popularity.

Hero MotoCorp has introduced the Splendor Plus Xtec with a disc brake option, marking the first time a Splendor model comes with a disc brake. This update enhances the bikes safety features and is priced at Rs 83,461 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The addition of a disc brake is a significant improvement, and I think it will boost consumer confidence in the model.

Hero MotoCorp has announced a price hike for its bikes and scooters, including the Hero Splendor Plus, effective from July 2024. The prices are set to increase by Rs 1,500. This move is likely due to rising production costs and inflation. I think this hike might affect sales temporarily, but the Splendor Pluss popularity will likely endure.

Hero MotoCorp has inaugurated a new assembly facility in Nepal with its local partner, CG Motors. This new plant will have an annual capacity of 75,000 units and is expected to boost Heros presence in the region. I believe this expansion will help Hero maintain its market share and cater to growing demand.
