The new Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X motorcycles from Triumph Motorcycles India are powered by a 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with a dual-overhead-camshaft and a four-valve setup. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission and produces a max output of 39.5 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 37.5 Newton meters at 6,500 rpm.

The engine is tuned to deliver a smooth and linear power delivery, making it ideal for both city and highway riding. It is also equipped with a slipper clutch, which helps to prevent the rear wheel from locking up during aggressive downshifts.

The Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X are both capable of achieving a top speed of over 160 km/h. They are also relatively fuel-efficient, with a claimed fuel economy of 35 kilometres per litre.
