Skoda Superb Diesel India Return Planned for First Half of 2027

The Skoda Superb diesel is reported to be heading back to India in the first half of 2027. The sedan is expected to arrive as a completely built unit (CBU), giving Skoda a low-volume premium offering above its locally produced range.

A 2.0 TDI engine is expected, but Skoda has not announced the exact India specification, trim or price. Any ₹55–60 lakh estimate should therefore remain clearly labelled as indicative.

Why a diesel Superb still matters

The Superb built a loyal Indian following by combining rear-seat space, long-distance comfort and Volkswagen Group powertrains. A diesel return would appeal most strongly to customers who value relaxed highway range and torque in a traditional executive sedan.

The segment is now dominated by SUVs, which means the Superb’s role would be specialised rather than volume-led. That can still work for a CBU programme aimed at existing brand loyalists and buyers looking beyond the usual luxury badges.

The CBU route

Importing the car fully built reduces the investment required for local assembly and allows Skoda to bring a relatively small batch to market. The trade-off is price: duties, logistics and limited scale can push a CBU well above the positioning of an equivalent locally assembled model.

Final pricing may also be influenced by the trade environment closer to launch, but no benefit should be assumed until Skoda publishes the commercial details.

What remains unconfirmed

Skoda’s global Superb range includes 2.0-litre TDI options, but the exact output, drivetrain and equipment for India have not been stated. The final variant could prioritise rear-seat comfort, technology and safety equipment to justify its premium placement.

For now, the reliable takeaway is the reported H1 2027 timing and CBU plan. Engine tune, allocation and price remain open questions for the formal India announcement.
