I hope someone tried it! That would be a unique project and could also inspire a whole new segment of micro campers in India.

I think it’s old school thinking. Something that even commercial vehicles need to have some comfort and features to be competitive.

With the right modifications could the Supro be India's answer to the iconic VW Microbus?
27 December 2024 10:47
The Supro has no way of ever achieving the charm or iconic design of the VW Bus. It's too boxy and utilitarian to ever be appealing like that.
With the right modifications could the Supro be India's answer to the iconic VW Microbus?
27 December 2024 10:47
With the right mods it could most definitely capture some of that Microbus vibe. Two tone paint, round headlights and a custom interior would take it a long way.

I think it's got potential, but it really needs a redesign to really get that retro cool factor. It’s too modern for the basic shape.
With the right modifications could the Supro be India's answer to the iconic VW Microbus?

Why copy the VW? India should not hesitate to make the Supro iconic in its own right, embracing its almost singular identity.

You can't really compare the Supro to a Microbus, it's too small. It's more of a mini minivan than a real van.

Anything is possible with enough customization. I’d love to see someone tackle this challenge and build a "Indian Microbus" based on the Supro.
Is the Mahindra Supro really a ‘proper’ van, or just a glorified utility vehicle?
27 December 2024 10:47
It’s definitely a more utilitarian vehicle. Mahindra just slapped some seats in the back of their mini truck and called it a day.
Is the Mahindra Supro really a ‘proper’ van, or just a glorified utility vehicle?
27 December 2024 10:47
I would say it is a proper van, just on a smaller scale. A van is built for passenger and cargo transport, and that’s exactly what it does.
Is the Mahindra Supro really a ‘proper’ van, or just a glorified utility vehicle?
27 December 2024 10:47
It's not a 'proper' van. It doesn’t have the refinement and comfort features you’d expect in a true passenger van.
Is the Mahindra Supro really a ‘proper’ van, or just a glorified utility vehicle?

It absolutely qualifies as a van for the Indian market. But we also have to consider context – not every van needs to be the size of a Sprinter.
