Is the BYD e6 a glorified taxi or a legitimate family car?
02 January 2025 06:35
It's kind of both, honestly. It's built like a tank because of taxi heritage, which is great for reliability. That's also why it's pretty basic inside. That’s perfect for some families. For others it may feel too utilitarian.
Is the BYD e6 a glorified taxi or a legitimate family car?
02 January 2025 06:35
As a family guy with one, I can tell you it’s legit. It’s unbeatable space, and the low maintenance of an EV is a godsend. Is it as flashy as a Tesla? Nah. It does the job without fuss, but it does it.
Can the BYD e6's massive battery compensate for its brick like aerodynamics?
02 January 2025 06:35
I honestly think that BYD made the right move. The e6 isn’t winning any beauty contests, but that big battery means you don’t have to worry about range all the time. It is a solution to the real world.
Can the BYD e6's massive battery compensate for its brick like aerodynamics?
02 January 2025 06:35
This is no way, it's just lazy engineering. Instead of slapping a huge battery in it they should have focused on making it aerodynamic. You might as well put a jet engine on a brick and call it efficient.
Can the BYD e6's massive battery compensate for its brick like aerodynamics?
02 January 2025 06:35
I can say from experience of the long trips I’ve done in an e6 the big battery is a life saver. Yes, it’s not the most energy efficient, but the peace of mind is worth it.
Can the BYD e6's massive battery compensate for its brick like aerodynamics?
02 January 2025 06:35
Here I think we're missing the point. The e6 was conceived as a taxi where stop and go city driving is more important than highway efficiency. That’s why the big battery makes sense in that context.
Can the BYD e6's massive battery compensate for its brick like aerodynamics?
02 January 2025 06:35
It's a trade-off, for sure. Just remember: Aerodynamics only matter at high speeds. The brick shape is less of an issue for city driving, which is what most people do. And that shape offers you a ton of interior space, too.
Can the BYD e6's massive battery compensate for its brick like aerodynamics?
02 January 2025 06:35
The e6 isn’t trying to be a Tesla, let’s be real. As a workhorse EV, the big battery is more important than slippery aero. It’s about reliability and predictability, not winning efficiency awards.
Can the BYD e6's massive battery compensate for its brick like aerodynamics?
02 January 2025 06:35
In fact, I like that BYD preferred to focus on battery size rather than aerodynamics. They are showing that they are thinking about real world use and not just chasing numbers on a spec sheet.
Are the BYD e6’s lack of features a dealbreaker or an advantage in disguise?
02 January 2025 06:35
In fact, I love that the e6 is a simple car, as I’ve owned overly complicated cars before. The fewer things you have to break, the fewer headaches you have down the road.
Are the BYD e6’s lack of features a dealbreaker or an advantage in disguise?
02 January 2025 06:35
At that price point, no way should you be getting way more features. Other EVs are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, and it feels like BYD is stuck in the past.
Are the BYD e6’s lack of features a dealbreaker or an advantage in disguise?
02 January 2025 06:35
It depends, I think, on what you use the car for. Do you really need all those fancy features, if it’s just a daily commuter or family hauler? The basics are covered well by the e6.
Are the BYD e6’s lack of features a dealbreaker or an advantage in disguise?
02 January 2025 06:35
Of course, the lack of features is a definite deal breaker for me. I don't want my car to be a decade old and disconnected, I want it to be modern and connected.
Are the BYD e6’s lack of features a dealbreaker or an advantage in disguise?
02 January 2025 06:35
You guys are not getting it. The e6 is not a tech showcase, but a workhorse. The reason it’s so reliable and easy to maintain is its simplicity.
Are the BYD e6’s lack of features a dealbreaker or an advantage in disguise?
02 January 2025 06:35
I actually enjoy it. These days, so many cars attempt to become smartphones on wheels. All the e6 wants to do is be a good, solid car.
Are the BYD e6’s lack of features a dealbreaker or an advantage in disguise?
02 January 2025 06:35
It's a tough call. You get a huge battery and a ton of space on one hand. While you’re not getting the standard features of much cheaper cars. Well, it’s really a matter of priorities.
Does the BYD e6’s taxi heritage make it more appealing or less appealing for private owners?
02 January 2025 06:35
I really believe the taxi heritage is a huge asset. This means the e6 is built to deal with constant use and abuse. If it can survive as a taxi, it will handle anything a family throws at it.
Does the BYD e6’s taxi heritage make it more appealing or less appealing for private owners?
02 January 2025 06:35
No way, I don't want to feel like I'm driving a taxi each day. Cars should have some personality and style, they shouldn’t just be appliances.
Does the BYD e6’s taxi heritage make it more appealing or less appealing for private owners?
02 January 2025 06:35
It's a double-edged sword. It’s probably super reliable, but it doesn’t have that refinement that you’d want in a personal car. That really depends on whether you value the function of the thing or the form of the thing.
Does the BYD e6’s taxi heritage make it more appealing or less appealing for private owners?

I’ve owned an ex fleet vehicle before and as such, the taxi background is a good thing. They keep these cars in great shape and make them last. It’s kind of like you’re getting a pre vetted vehicle.
