Does the BYD e6’s taxi heritage make it more appealing or less appealing for private owners?

I think people are thinking way too hard about this. Whether it’s a car from the past or a newer one, it’s still a good car. For the money, the e6 has a lot of space and range, whether or not it has taxi heritage.

The trust it actually makes me have about the taxi thing. It's like that; I'd rather go to a restaurant that locals like, rather than one that tourists like. If professionals can use it, I can use it too.

I can see why some might be turned off by the taxi association, but for me it’s a selling point. It's the same as buying a commercial grade appliance for your home; you know it is built to last.
What does the BYD eMAX 7's success mean for the electrification of the Indian MPV segment?
02 January 2025 06:29
The eMAX 7 will certainly light a fire under the competition if it takes off. Maruti and Toyota will now try to bring out their electric MPVs earlier. That could be the push the segment needs to go electric.
What does the BYD eMAX 7's success mean for the electrification of the Indian MPV segment?
02 January 2025 06:29
I'm skeptical. It’s not like one premium EV is going to completely change the whole segment. The majority of MPV buyers seek for affordable and reliable family cars. Till the time, there is no electric MPV that can match the Ertiga on price, mass electrification will not happen.
What does the BYD eMAX 7's success mean for the electrification of the Indian MPV segment?
02 January 2025 06:29
It's going to be a slow burn. Early adopters will love the eMAX 7, but it will be a while before the technology trickles down into more affordable models. At the moment I think we're still 5-7 years from mainstream electric MPVs.
What does the BYD eMAX 7's success mean for the electrification of the Indian MPV segment?
02 January 2025 06:29
No matter if it's a success or failure the eMAX 7 will be a source of important data on how Indian families use electric MPVs. It will be vital information for other manufacturers to build their own models. It's a necessary first step.
What does the BYD eMAX 7's success mean for the electrification of the Indian MPV segment?

I believe it will have first a bigger impact on the premium MPV segment. Kia and Hyundai may speed up their plans for electric Carnival and Alcazar models. It will take longer to electrify the mass market stuff.
So how do you compare the brand trust and reliability of other brand like, the Toyota Innova with the BYD eMAX 7?
02 January 2025 06:29
No way. Toyota has decades of reputation of reliability. They have good tech, but they can’t match that trust overnight. It will take years of proven performance in India before getting even close.
So how do you compare the brand trust and reliability of other brand like, the Toyota Innova with the BYD eMAX 7?
02 January 2025 06:29
I think BYD has a shot. EVs have fewer moving parts and should be more reliable, theoretically, and they're huge in China and have solid tech. They could win people over if they can prove their quality in the first few years.
So how do you compare the brand trust and reliability of other brand like, the Toyota Innova with the BYD eMAX 7?
02 January 2025 06:29
It’s not just the brand, but the service network as well. There is a Toyota dealer and service center everywhere. To really compete, BYD has to match that level of after sales support.
So how do you compare the brand trust and reliability of other brand like, the Toyota Innova with the BYD eMAX 7?
02 January 2025 06:29
I am an early adopter and willing to bet on BYD. They have an impressive global track record, and somebody needs to challenge the status quo. And if competition just makes everyone's products better, that's a good thing.
So how do you compare the brand trust and reliability of other brand like, the Toyota Innova with the BYD eMAX 7?
02 January 2025 06:29
Let’s be real, most people who are buying a Rs 30 lakh+ MPV don’t care about reliability too much. The eMAX 7 delivers all the latest tech and features, which is what they want. It's not the same market as the Innova buyer.
Is the BYD eMAX 7 worth the price tag considering its features, and the electric powertrain?
02 January 2025 06:29
Absolutely justified! It's cutting edge EV tech, a huge range and premium features. The price doesn’t seem crazy when you compare it to the top end Innova Crysta and add in the long term fuel savings.
Is the BYD eMAX 7 worth the price tag considering its features, and the electric powertrain?
02 January 2025 06:29
No way. What it offers is way too expensive. Okay, it's electric, but at that price you're competing with luxury brands. The fact is, BYD doesn't have the brand value to command that kind of premium in India.
Is the BYD eMAX 7 worth the price tag considering its features, and the electric powertrain?
02 January 2025 06:29
For early adopters and tech enthusiasts I think it's reasonably priced. It's still too expensive for the average MPV buyer looking for a family car. To really compete in the mass market they need to bring the price down.
Is the BYD eMAX 7 worth the price tag considering its features, and the electric powertrain?
02 January 2025 06:29
It may seem expensive now but we have to look at the total cost of ownership. Running costs are lower and if you can get government incentives on EVs it can work out cheaper in long run than a similar ICE vehicle.
Is the BYD eMAX 7 worth the price tag considering its features, and the electric powertrain?
02 January 2025 06:29
At that price it's a tough sell. And they are asking people to pay a premium for an unproven brand in India irrespective of their global reputation. However, they should have come in with more aggressive pricing strategy to get market share.
Is the BYD eMAX 7 a game changer for the Indian MPV market?
02 January 2025 06:29
Absolutely! This is exactly what the Indian MPV market needs. It's bringing electric tech to a segment which has been stuck in the ICE age for so long. That 530 km range is a game changer for families looking to travel long distances without having to worry about charging.
Is the BYD eMAX 7 a game changer for the Indian MPV market?
02 January 2025 06:29
Game-changer? More like a niche player. Yes, it’s got some fancy tech, but at that price point, it’s not going to unseat the Innova anytime soon. While rotating touchscreens may be the latest thing on the market, most MPV buyers are in the market for reliability and low running costs.
