Latest Updates
Wednesday, 15 December 2021 07:50 PM A user update on Team-BHP in December 2021 highlighted the durability and build quality of the Tata Zest. The users Zest had completed 1 lakh kilometers and still showed no significant signs of wear and tear, except for some minor issues like a tak noise in the steering. I believe this speaks well to the cars overall build quality.
Tuesday, 15 September 2020 02:47 PM The Tata Zests ride and handling were praised for offering a balanced and compliant ride quality, especially on bad roads. However, by 2020, this was not enough to sway buyers who were looking for more comprehensive packages from their cars. I believe the Zests strengths in ride and handling were overshadowed by its weaknesses in other areas.
Thursday, 20 August 2020 09:21 AM The exterior design of the Tata Zest was criticized for being mediocre at best. By 2020, the design was looking even more dated compared to newer compact sedans. I think this was a significant factor in the Zests lack of appeal to buyers who value modern design.
Friday, 10 July 2020 08:46 PM The diesel version of the Tata Zest, particularly the AMT variant, was noted for its linear power delivery and almost non-existent turbo lag. This made it a good option for city driving, but by 2020, other cars were offering similar or better performance. I believe the Zests performance was still commendable but not standout.
Wednesday, 10 June 2020 04:56 PM Despite its launch hype, the Tata Zest has struggled to match sales of its competitors in the compact sedan segment. By mid-2020, it was clear that the Zest was not gaining the traction Tata Motors had hoped for. I think the markets preference for newer models and better-designed rivals played a significant role in this.
Friday, 15 May 2020 10:25 PM The Tata Zests ConnectNext infotainment system, developed by Harman, was praised for its best-in-class audio output. However, by 2020, other cars were offering more advanced infotainment systems, making the Zests system seem somewhat outdated. I think this was another area where the Zest needed an update to stay competitive.
Wednesday, 15 April 2020 06:10 AM The Tata Zest Premio Edition was launched in 2018, but it remained relevant in 2020 with its cosmetic updates and the addition of a touchscreen infotainment system. This special edition slots between the XMS and XT variants, offering a bit more value for the price. I believe these small updates helped keep the Zest competitive, albeit briefly.
Wednesday, 01 April 2020 05:55 AM Tata Motors rolled out various offers on the Zest in April 2020 to boost sales. These offers included benefits worth over Rs 50,000, making the car more attractive to potential buyers. I believe such offers were necessary to keep the Zest relevant in a highly competitive market.
Saturday, 21 March 2020 01:27 AM The Tata Zest scored a respectable four-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test, which was a positive note for safety-conscious buyers. However, by 2020, safety standards had evolved, and newer models were offering even better safety features. I think this made the Zest less appealing in terms of safety compared to newer cars.
Friday, 24 January 2020 12:26 AM Tata Motors has not provided any official update on the launch of a BS6 engine for the Tata Zest as of January 2020. This leaves the future of the Zest in the Indian market uncertain, given the strict emission norms. I think this lack of clarity might affect consumer confidence in the model.

Although, built on the enhanced version of company's X1 platform, it has some great new features and design elements which are worth mentioning. It is a classy compact sedan that will surely redefine the passenger car market with its new design aesthetics (DESIGNEXT), a segment-defining drive experience (DRIVENEXT) and high-tech infotainment system (CONNECTNEXT). Let's see what this new model has got to offer its customers.

Exterior

The overall design of sedan is refreshing which gives it a compact and dynamic look. The car has got remarkable changes that include a nice kink in the headlamps with projector elements, an attractive mesh grille, sculpted bonnet and front bumper, LED daytime-running lamps (in the top petrol trim), a new Tata signature front grille with the new Humanity Line which flows directly into its stylish dynamic projector headlamps with chrome accents.

The stylish 15-inch alloy wheels, thick character line at its sides, body colored ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, a sporty antenna at the rear top, body colored outside door handles, rear black C-pillars and an integrated boot lid spoiler. The boot looks truncated and stubby in comparison to its large windows. The distinctive wrap-around LED tail-lamps and wide chrome bar gives the sedan a decent road presence from the rear.

Interior

The interior has got a refreshing design in fact the best looking Tata cabin currently. There is a significant improvement seen in quality of materials used to design the interiors. The dual tone color schemes make it look upgraded and stylish. The gunmetal grey and piano black plastic trims on the dashboard are quite attractive. Moreover the segment-first touchscreen infotainment system with Harman-Kardon frame is quite thoughtful. However, the boot section at 390 litres is not the biggest where suspension eats up into the boot space. The electric, hexagonal steering wheel comes mounted with major controls. The seats of car are quite supportive and well cushioned but lack the leather stuffs even in the top trims.

Best automatic diesel car under 10 lakhs that's loaded with necessary features

Benson Philip | 6 years ago
helpful 13

One advice to all the people stop judging the car just because its TATA. It's got a proven engine that was used in Swift untill last year. Yes, I am talking abt the 90ps fiat engine. It's got the same manufacturer for the AMT that Maruti Celerio has. Best in class features. I have read lot of blogs including team bhp and checked with my friends for Zest's after sales service and I haven't seen any negative feedback. Servicing required @15000 km and is not that expensive approx 4-5k. They have got good colors but I would expect them to launch it in black. I would definitely recommend you to go for a Test Drive.

Best Features: Infotainment by Harman, high adjustable seats, good boot space, reverse sensor, climate control

Pros: An automatic car that comes with abs, ebd and airbags which is usually removed by other manufacturers to reduce price. Infotainment by Harman. Touchscreen

Cons: No dead pedal, Reverse camera not available by default. Design lacks a little more style if you compare with Ford Aspire
