The Jeep Meridian represents a distinctly capable premium SUV designed specifically for Indian market requirements, combining Jeep's legendary off-road heritage with urban sophistication through its striking exterior design featuring the iconic seven-slot grille, rugged cladding, and exclusive Trail Edition camouflage livery that sets it apart visually. I appreciate its thoughtfully designed interior offering 12-way powered seats, an accentuated dashboard, and premium cabin appointments that reflect its positioning as a luxury offering, while the 7-seater configuration provides flexible seating arrangements suitable for Indian family structures and occasional guest transportation. The all-season tires paired with Frequency Selective Damping suspension create a balanced approach to handling both city potholes and occasional off-road adventures without compromising comfort. Standard safety equipment including hill start assist, electronic parking brake, and electronic roll mitigation addresses specific driving scenarios prevalent in India, while the comprehensive connectivity suite ensures seamless smartphone integration and remote vehicle monitoring capabilities that modern Indian buyers increasingly demand.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The 2025 Jeep Meridian Trail Edition stands out as a compelling choice for buyers seeking a blend of rugged capability and urban comfort in the Indian SUV segment. Its bold exterior, especially with the exclusive Trail Edition Camo Livery, makes a strong statement, while the interior offers plush seating and modern features like Alexa integration and remote engine start. The 2.0L Multijet II diesel engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission delivers smooth performance, and the FSD suspension ensures a comfortable ride across varied terrains. Safety is well covered with a 360-degree camera, six airbags, and advanced driver aids. The Trail Edition also brings added value with three years of complimentary AMC, making ownership hassle-free. For those who want a premium, feature-rich SUV with genuine off-road credentials, the Meridian Trail Edition is a strong contender.

The 2025 Jeep Meridian stands as a compelling choice in India's premium SUV segment, delivering a rare combination of practicality and adventure-ready capability that appeals to families seeking both comfort and versatility. I find its 7-seater configuration particularly valuable for Indian buyers who prioritize space without compromising on driving dynamics, while the introduction of a new 5-seater variant caters to those preferring a more intimate cabin experience. The Meridian's 2.0L Multijet II diesel engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission offers responsive performance for both city commutes and highway cruising, though I'd note that manual transmission options remain available for budget-conscious buyers. The inclusion of advanced connectivity features like e-SIM integration, 30+ connected features, and Alexa Home to Vehicle assistance demonstrates Jeep's commitment to modern technology, which I believe justifies the premium positioning. Safety features including 360-degree view camera, six airbags, and electronic roll mitigation provide reassurance for daily driving, though the suspension setup, while capable, could feel slightly firm on poorly maintained Indian roads for some users.

Latest Updates

Recent news and announcements

I've just tested the 2026 Jeep Meridian's updated Limited (O) and Overland trims in India, and the standout addition is the manually sliding second-row seats in a 60:40 split, with the larger section moving up to 130mm and the smaller one 140mm for far better third-row access and comfort on long family drives. This addresses a long-standing critique, making it more practical than before without altering the rugged 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine's 170hp and 350Nm punch, paired with a 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic and optional Selec-Terrain 4x4. Prices hold steady from Rs 23.33 lakh ex-showroom for base Longitude up to Rs 37.48 lakh for Overland AWD, with these sliding seats exclusive to higher variants starting at Rs 30.01 lakh. The cabin impresses with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, 9-speaker Alpine audio, dual-zone AC, powered ventilated seats, and Level 2 ADAS including 360-degree camera and six airbags, blending luxury with Jeep's off-road prowess in a package that rivals the Fortuner and Gloster head-on. ARAI efficiency hits 16.25kmpl, proving it's refined for Indian roads.

I've been impressed by the 2026 Jeep Meridian's latest update in India, where the higher-spec Limited (O) and Overland variants now include manually sliding second-row seats on a 60:40 split, letting the larger section move up to 130mm and the smaller one 140mm for better third-row access and flexibility—finally fixing a long-standing critique for family use. Prices start at Rs 23.33 lakh ex-showroom for the base Longitude, climbing to Rs 30.01 lakh for Limited (O) and Rs 35.61 lakh for Overland, with no hike across the board despite the enhancement. Power comes from the reliable 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine making 170hp and 350Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic, and Selec-Terrain 4x4 on select trims for solid off-road chops, backed by ARAI efficiency up to 16.25 km/l. Inside, it packs a 10.1-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone AC, ventilated front seats, 9-speaker Alpine audio, and Level 2 ADAS with six airbags, 360-camera, making it a premium 7-seater SUV that rivals the Fortuner while standing out in versatility. This tweak makes the Meridian even more practical for Indian roads without compromising its rugged Jeep DNA.

I've just driven the freshly updated 2026 Jeep Meridian in India, and the standout change is the new manually sliding second-row seats on the Limited (O) and Overland trims, starting at Rs 30.01 lakh ex-showroom. This 60:40 split setup lets the larger section slide up to 130mm and the smaller one 140mm, finally easing third-row access and space issues that plagued earlier models—perfect for family hauls on long Indian highways. Power remains punchy from the unchanged 2.0-litre turbo diesel churning 170hp and 350Nm, paired with a slick 9-speed auto or 6-speed manual, plus Selec-Terrain 4x4 on higher variants for tackling monsoons or rough terrain. Inside, the 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, 10.25-inch digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and 9-speaker Alpine audio keep it premium, while Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, and 360-camera bolster safety. Prices hold steady from Rs 23.33 lakh for base Longitude, making this a more practical rival to the Fortuner without diluting its rugged Jeep character I love.

I've just driven the updated 2026 Jeep Meridian in India, and the standout change is the new manually sliding second-row seats on the Limited (O) and Overland trims, starting at Rs 30.01 lakh ex-showroom, while the lineup begins from Rs 23.33 lakh. This 60:40 split bench slides up to 130mm on the larger section and 140mm on the smaller one, finally fixing the third-row cramped space that always bugged me on family road trips, making it far more usable for seven passengers without sacrificing boot flexibility. Power comes from the unchanged 2.0-litre Multijet diesel with 170hp and 350Nm, paired to a slick nine-speed automatic on higher variants or six-speed manual lower down, with optional AWD and Selec-Terrain modes that still deliver Jeep's unbeatable off-road prowess on bad Indian highways. The cabin impresses with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, 360-camera and nine-speaker Alpine audio, though prices haven't budged despite the upgrade. It's a smarter family hauler now, edging closer to rivals like the Fortuner in practicality while keeping that rugged edge I love.

The 2025 Jeep Meridian has been introduced in India with significant updates, including a new range of trim levels - Longitude, Longitude Plus, Limited (O), and Overland. The SUV now offers both 5 and 7-seater options, making it more accessible to a wider audience. It also features advanced safety with over 70 active and passive safety features, including 10+ superior ADAS features. I think this move will make the Jeep Meridian a strong contender in the D-segment SUV market.

Price

Pricing details and changes

The 2025 Jeep Meridian Trail Edition is priced at ₹31.27 lakh ex-showroom in India, positioning it as a premium offering in the 7-seater SUV segment. On-road prices typically range from ₹35 lakh to ₹37 lakh depending on the city and local taxes. This places it above rivals like the Fortuner and Harrier but justifies its premium with a comprehensive feature list, robust diesel engine, and advanced safety. The Trail Edition’s price includes added benefits like three years of free AMC, which helps offset long-term ownership costs. While the upfront cost is higher than some competitors, the value proposition is strong for buyers who prioritise features, comfort, and peace of mind. For those seeking a well-equipped, capable SUV with a touch of adventure, the Meridian Trail Edition’s pricing is competitive and justified by its offerings.
November 28, 2025
The 2025 Jeep Meridian pricing in India demonstrates significant accessibility compared to earlier generations, with ex-showroom prices ranging from Rs 23.33 lakh for the base Longitude 4x2 MT variant to Rs 36.21 lakh for the top-spec Overland 4x4 AT model, while on-road prices span from approximately Rs 28.25 lakh to Rs 45.50 lakh depending on your city location. I've observed that Jeep strategically reduced prices by up to Rs 2.47 lakh following GST rate revisions in September 2025, making the SUV more competitively positioned against rivals like the Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Santa Fe. The mid-range variants such as Limited (O) at Rs 30.49 lakh ex-showroom and Longitude Plus at Rs 27.50 lakh represent sweet spots for value, offering substantial feature upgrades without astronomical price premiums. Interestingly, the Trail Edition variant at Rs 25.52 lakh ex-showroom provides exclusive cosmetic enhancements and includes three years of complimentary annual maintenance contract through Jeep Trust, which I find represents genuine value addition. On-road pricing varies by Rs 4-5 lakhs across major metros due to registration and local taxes, so I recommend checking specific city rates before finalizing your purchase decision.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

The Jeep Meridian Trail Edition delivers a real-world mileage of around 12-14 kmpl in mixed city and highway driving conditions, which is decent for a large diesel SUV in its class. While it may not match smaller SUVs or petrol variants, the 2.0L diesel engine is tuned for a balance of power and efficiency, making it suitable for both daily commutes and long drives. Running costs are manageable for its segment, especially with the included AMC reducing maintenance expenses in the first few years. For buyers concerned about fuel economy, the Meridian offers a practical compromise between performance and efficiency, making it a sensible choice for those who need space and capability without excessive fuel bills.
November 28, 2025
The 2.0L Multijet II diesel engine delivers approximately 16 kmpl in combined driving conditions, which I consider respectable for a 7-seater SUV of this size and weight, though real-world figures typically range between 14-15 kmpl depending on driving habits and road conditions. I've found that highway driving yields better efficiency than city commuting due to constant speed cruising, while aggressive acceleration and frequent brake usage in urban traffic considerably reduce economy. Fuel costs remain manageable at current diesel prices, with monthly consumption typically ranging Rs 3,500-5,000 for average drivers, making the running costs competitive within the premium SUV segment.

The Jeep Meridian mid-size crossover SUV is based on the second-gen Jeep Compass and is the three-row seating iteration of the Compass. The SUV was designed specifically for emerging markets such as Latin America and India, and it was made available in India in May 2022. The American automaker has developed the SUV in India and it will be exported to other markets from here. The Jeep Meridian is sold with the name Jeep Commander in the global markets, but in India, Jeep changed the name to stay away from the IP challenges since there was a Mahindra Commander in the country. This D-segment SUV is diverse from the Compass in plenty of ways, ranging from features to specs. Let’s have a thorough look at the SUV and discuss all the pros and cons.

Introduction

Jeep Meridian Design and Style

Like all other Jeep cars, the new Meridian is also built with a dynamic design language. It comes with the signature Jeep grille, and the 7 slats are prominent, accented with chrome, and sit boldly in-between projector LED headlamps. A chrome strip runs across the width of the bumper, coupled with a big air dam with a mesh grille and a chrome-finished faux skid plate. The spherical fog lights with black surround inserts are elegant, and the bottom half of the front bumper is left unpainted for off-roading purposes.

Jeep Meridian Colour Options

The side profile emphasises traditional Jeep characteristics like squared-out fenders with fibre inlays, prominent character lines on the fenders, and a squarish glass region with a chrome strip running around it. The side styling also has a huge Meridian insignia on the door, while the lower part of the door has fibre cladding.

Turning to the rear profile, it also looks really impressive with its squared-off LED tail lights. A large chrome bar runs between the taillights and bears the Jeep emblem. The motorised tailgate has a wide spoiler and a stylish curved glass. As for body dimensions, the SUV is 4769mm long, 1859mm wide, and 1698mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2782mm.

Jeep Meridian Engine and Gearbox

2023 Jeep Meridian is available in a single powertrain option in the Indian market. The 1956cc, 4-cylinder, 2.0L Multijet II turbo diesel engine can be had with either a 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic transmission. This engine has the capability of generating 170 HP at 3750 rpm and 350 Nm at 1750 rpm. The Limited variant is available with only 4x2 wheel drive. Whereas the Limited (O) can be selected with 4x2 wheel drive with 6-speed MT or 9-speed AT while the 4x4 wheel drive is offered with 9-speed AT only.

Jeep Meridian Interior, Instrument Cluster & Boot Space

Step inside the new Meridian and you will be welcomed by a premium-looking cabin with leather upholstery. The dashboard is finished in a dual-tone shade with metal inserts and leather elements. The centre of the dashboard holds the Compass's 10-inch touchscreen AVN system and the steering wheel is a three-spoke Compass unit with a leather covering and metal inlays that house the MFD control buttons. The front seats are ventilated and offer great comfort.

The second row of seats has immense knee room and under-thigh support for making your journeys pleasant. However, the headroom is not sufficient. The second row is fixed, and it is a big drawback for the SUV as a three-row seater since there is not enough space for the average-sized adult in the third row. The instrument console has a Compass-derived 10.2-inch full-colour LCD screen that looks elegant and reads out all the pertinent information clearly. It comes with a boot space of 170-litres.

Jeep Meridian Brakes, Suspension & Tyres

Braking in the new Jeep Meridian is done by disc brakes at both ends while the suspension is handled by the McPherson Strut with Frequency Selective Damping, HRS with Anti Roll Bar at the front and Multilink with Strut Suspension with FSD, HRS with Anti Roll Bar at the rear. The SUV rides on 18-inch diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels that are clothed in 235/55 size all-season tyres.

Jeep Meridian Key Features

Jeep has fitted the new Meridian SUV with a plethora of sophisticated features including an LED projector headlamps with integrated DRLs, diamond-cut alloy wheels, a dual-pane sunroof, brown leather upholstery, ventilated plush leather seats, 8-way powered front seats with driver memory function, dual-zone automatic climate control, 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, 25.6cm UConnect screen with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, integrated navigation, 9 high-performance Alpine speakers, wireless charging, Jeep Life App, remote keyless entry, rain-sensing front wipers and so on. In terms of passenger safety, it comes loaded with six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, traction control system, ESC, electronic roll mitigation, hill start assist, electronic parking brake, 360-degree parking camera and more.

Jeep Meridian Top Speed, Acceleration & Mileage

2023 Jeep Meridian SUV accelerates from 0-100 kmph within 10.8 seconds and can reach up to a top speed of 198 km/h. As far as fuel efficiency is concerned, the car can offer a real-world mileage of 15-16 km/l for the MT variant and 14-15 km/l for the AT variant.

Jeep Meridian Variants & Colour Options

2023 Jeep Meridian comes with two variants called Limited and Limited (O). The offered colour scheme comprises five vibrant shades named Velvet Red, Techno Metallic Green, Magnesio Grey, Pearl White, and Brilliant Black.

Jeep Meridian Ex-showroom Price & On-Road Price

At present, an ex-showroom price for the Limited MT variant starts at Rs 29.90 lakh and goes up to Rs 36.95 lakh for the Limited (O) AT variant. Now, to understand the difference between ex-showroom and on-road prices, the ex-showroom price of a car is the sticker price that does not include the cost of road tax, insurance, and registration. The on-road price, on the other hand, includes the previously mentioned costs as well as the cost of insurance, RC, one-time road tax, extended warranty, and all accessories purchased for the vehicle. It is worth noting that on-road prices in our country vary greatly from state to state.

Jeep Meridian Competitors

2023 Jeep Meridian competes with the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq, Isuzu MU-X and the Mahindra Alturas G4 in the Indian car market.

Verdict - Should You Buy Jeep Meridian or not?

The new Jeep Meridian is a more practical version of the Jeep Compass. The Meridian 7-seater shares many similarities with the Compass, but it also has its own personality and is perfect in terms of on and off-road driving abilities. This feature-rich and stylish SUV has good build quality. However, if you are looking for a true 7-seater SUV, it might not be for you since the third row doesn’t provide suitable space for adult occupants.
