Our take on this /// Verdict
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N is a game-changer in the electric vehicle segment, especially for those who crave the thrill of a high-performance car. Driving this vehicle is an exhilarating experience, with its dual electric motors producing up to 650PS in boost mode and delivering instantaneous torque that is nothing short of breathtaking. The simulated gear shifts, exhaust notes, and even the option to mimic sounds like a fighter jet or lightsaber, add a layer of fun and engagement that is hard to find in other EVs. While the stiff suspension can make the ride a bit punishing on rough roads, the overall handling and grip are exceptional, making it a joy to attack corners. The interior is equally impressive, with sporty bucket seats and a well-designed cabin that combines comfort and practicality. However, the price and the availability in India remain key factors to consider.
Price
The pricing of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N in India is not officially announced yet, but based on global pricing and the premium nature of this model, it is expected to be significantly higher than the standard IONIQ 5. If we consider the 20 premium over the regular IONIQ 5 mentioned in international markets, the ex-showroom price could be around 65-70 lakh. Adding taxes, registration, and other costs, the on-road price could easily exceed 75 lakh. This places the IONIQ 5 N in a niche segment where it competes with high-performance electric vehicles and luxury hot hatches. While it may seem steep, the unique features, performance, and the overall driving experience make it a compelling option for enthusiasts willing to pay a premium.
Latest Updates

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N has been updated with a new 10-stage drift mode, enhancing its drifting capabilities. This update, released for the Korean market, allows for varying levels of assistance to get the car sideways, with the 10th stage being a Pro Mode for experienced drifters. Additionally, the N e-Shift feature now includes a downhill assist function and a downshift memory function. I think this update will make the IONIQ 5 N even more appealing to performance enthusiasts.

Hyundai has announced that the IONIQ 5 N will be available globally starting March 2024. This high-performance electric SUV boasts a 0-60 mph time of just 3.0 seconds and features an 84.0-kWh battery pack, allowing for a range of 221 miles per charge. The IONIQ 5 N also includes advanced safety features like automated emergency braking and lane-keeping assist. I believe this model will set a new benchmark for electric performance vehicles.

Hyundai has introduced the IONIQ 5 N Line, a sporty variant positioned between the base model and the high-performance IONIQ 5 N. The N Line features a more aggressive front and rear design, unique bumpers, side skirts, and dedicated 20-inch aluminum wheels. The interior includes N Line exclusive design elements like a dedicated steering wheel and sport seats. I believe this variant will attract customers looking for a dynamic driving experience without the full performance package of the N model.

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N has successfully completed the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, showcasing its exceptional performance and innovative technology. This achievement highlights the vehicles capability and Hyundais commitment to its N performance brand. I think this is a significant milestone for Hyundais electrification strategy.
Mileage
Monday, 18 November 2024 09:27 AM
The mileage of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N in India would depend on several factors, including driving conditions, mode of operation, and charging habits. Given its performance-oriented nature, the range is expected to be slightly lower than the standard IONIQ 5, especially when driven aggressively. However, Hyundai has optimized the vehicle for performance without compromising too much on range it is estimated to offer around 300km per charge, depending on how it is driven. In Eco mode, the range could be closer to the standard model, but in performance modes, it will naturally be lower. For Indian roads, this range is still quite respectable, especially considering the rapid charging capabilities that can replenish the battery to 80 in under 20 minutes. ABOUT The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N is a performance-focused electric vehicle that combines the practicality of a crossover with the exhilaration of a hot hatch. I do like the IONIQ EV that I (obligatorily) drive. Also comes handy for my daily office commutes. It’s premium in the cabin, and there's a lot of features. But on the other hand, charging infrastructure in my area (Mumbai) still sucks and fast chargers aren’t always around.
