Yamaha has refined the Niken GTs chassis and suspension, including a revised rear shock absorber and a new frame design to accommodate the engines new positioning. This has resulted in better balance and stability, especially noticeable in cornering and on uneven roads. The weight distribution is claimed to be 50:50 with a 75 kg rider. Despite its unique design and capabilities, the Niken GT faces challenges in appealing to a broad market. It is priced at around 18,000 euros, which is a premium for its three-wheeler concept. However, Yamahas persistence and continuous improvements suggest a commitment to making the Niken GT a viable option for specific riders. I believe its niche appeal could still attract a dedicated following.

The Niken GTs engine has been modified to provide more mid-range torque, with the maximum torque now available 1,500 rpm earlier than its predecessor. This, combined with a heavier crankshaft, makes the engine feel more relaxed and suitable for long stretches. However, there is still room for improvement in terms of responsiveness in the mid-range. I think this engine tweak is a step in the right direction.

Yamahas decision to evolve the Niken towards a more touring-focused bike seems strategic, given the original models mixed reception. The new GT version aims to attract a more affluent and safety-conscious clientele with its enhanced comfort and practical features. I believe this shift in focus could help the Niken GT find its place in the market.
