Vehicle Overview | Yamaha FZ6R is a middleweight motorcycle that carries a 600 cc, 4-cylinder engine. The setup is good for 76.4 BHP at 10000 rpm and 59.7 Nm at 8000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and claims a top speed of 199 kmph. The motorcycle is quite heavy at 215 kg while the accessible seat height of just 785 mm makes it easy to ride for every type of rider. It is more into the highway touring category as the huge fuel tank measuring 17 liters could help the rider claim a pretty decent overall refill period. If launched, it will rival Benelli TNT600 GT and Honda CBR650F in the Indian market. |

Yamaha FZ6R Review
Overview
Yamaha FZ6R: This middleweight motorcycle will tick all the right boxes when launched onto the market.
If you are like me, you may desire a motorcycle that is for the road and not the racetrack and here are some that meet that criteria. It is a bike that does so much for me in terms of comfort, versatility and not scaring the life out of you by trying to nail your head to the handlebars with unnecessary power. And it is that one friend who will always be willing to go with whatever you wish when you are proposing to go for a casual ride or when you are suggesting going for a thrilling ride through some curves full of turns.
The idea that really appeals to me is how this bike is just so friendly. It is not overbearing and does not sound like it is demanding a lot, but it does as expected when you need a little more out of it. Let me take you through a number of reasons that I believe would convince you to take a second look at this bike.
Yamaha FZ6R uniquely sells itself as the performance middleweight naked sportbike that quiets the mind and invigorates the rider.
Let me start with power since, you know, that is what most of us consider every time we see a bike. On the FZ6R, you get a 600cc inline-four engine that is just right. A car that just cruises and doesn’t land you into trouble when you just want to overtake cars on the highway. That for me is the kind of power delivery that gives more confidence. For new riders who may be transitioning from a smaller bike or those who haven’t ridden for some time, the FZ6R has an aura of being on your side.
But the fact that will linger in my mind for quite a while is how simple it is to ride. Surprisingly, the throttle is smooth without exhibiting any jerky movements and the clutch is relatively light so your fingers won’t cramp up after full day riding on city traffic. If you have ever ridden a bike that turns as though it’s ready to take off into space as soon as you open the throttle, you will likely volunter to explain how the FZ6R simply gets on with the job.
The Design: A Mix of Practical and Sleek
Okay, it is not all about the looks but couldn’t one want a bike that would attract a little attention here and there? I agree with the FZ6R having this sort of dull design that I am okay with. Still, that’s tailored to being sporty without going overboard. As I mentioned before, the full fairing somehow brings a glossy look and the slightly forward-leaning positions are somewhat less aggressive and therefore more comfortable. I will third that motion my back, specifically the lower part, appreciates such comfort during long drives.
But can just sit here for a moment to look at the seat? This is one of these things where a little attention given to it goes a long way. Yamaha got it just right—comfortable enough to ride for hours without feeling like you’re on an armless park bench. Also, the layout of the dashboards is quite clear and it did not create any sharp impression which is actually a plus for the software. Not excessively flashy anymore – just what you need, in the place where it’s needed most.
Riding Experience: Comfort Meets Confidence
This is actually where in my opinion the FZ6R really comes into its own here. You can ride it on just any terrain and yet, it’s one of those bikes that gives the rider a good feeling. I have driven it through city, highways and some rather winding country roads and has performed well on all accounts. It is more on comfort suspension which means that it has extraordinary ability to cushion the car. If you have ever painfully aware of this when perhaps driven over a nasty pothole, then you will understand that that is not quite so true.
The first thing that I immediately discern is that the bike itself is very planted. This makes it perfect for new riders or someone who would want a scooter that they simply do not have to tinker with. But don’t think that makes it mundane – there’s still enough of an engaging experience if you want to take a turn or twist the wrist on an expansive area.
Who Is the FZ6R For?
This bike is for those who expect a hint of everything from their perfect cycling companion. It’s perfect if you will be using a car during weekdays and a car during weekends or when you just want to relax. It’s also very low on maintenance which is quite advantageous if you are not that sorts of a rider that has to mess around with your bike every other weekend.
Well, let’s admit it, nobody wants to ride a bike that will stick out like a sore thumb wherever you take it. You can either ride it straight to your workplace or cruise around town to meet friends for coffee, with style.
A Quick Story: My Weekend With the FZ6R
I’ll just like to tell you a little story, stories, quick if I may, this story really defines this bike. Just a couple of weeks ago I decided to go for a ride with the FZ6R alone. The plan was simple therefore – get to a good stretch of the road and just floor it, take my time and enjoy the ride. I found myself on a very empty, unending, curvy, and dusty road that was lined by nicely spaced fields, and I just rode with enthusiasm; the sound of the bike’s engine only accompanies me. It was one of those situations where you realize why you wanted to ride in the first place.
So I found this small diners on the way, parked the bike and I asked for a cup of coffee. Then a fellow rider came over to chat with you. I guffawed at him as he remarked, “That’s a sharp-looking bike.” He called it the Swiss Army knife of motorcycles and to be fair, that has to be some of the best words put to motorcycle ever. It’s tough, consistent and never tired of whatever that’s thrown at it.
Yamaha FZ6R vs. Other Middleweight Contenders
Well, how does that put FZ6R in comparison to its counterparts? However, my personal philosophy of balances highlights this as a main secret. But it’s not good as Kawasaki Ninja 650 has been marketed with the raw aggression and It’s not as eccentric as Honda CBR500R. Well of course that is the beauty of the product; it is perfectly standard and right in the middle of things. It’s the bike you go with when you don’t feel the need to rationalise your purchase to colleagues, friends, or your boss.
Final Thoughts
The Yamaha FZ6R is not a bike that endeavours to put on a show with tricks or flashy bits of kit. They drive it because it is simple, reliable and rather enjoyable while driving. It’s the kind of bike that makes you want to go everywhere well not everywhere, but everywhere that a bike can go to the store for a pack of cigarettes, up and down a mountain all day.

User Reviews for Yamaha FZ
A damn good street fighter
The bike appeals to riders of all ages. Beginner-friendly bike. The power delivery doesn't scare you but has enough oomph. Capable to cruise at 100 kmph . You can roam in the city even at 5th gear. At around 4k rpm you can feel the torque rush. Very comfortable seat( both Rider and pillion ). Mileage is great for a 250cc (33 and 40kmpl at city and highway respectively) Although lightweight, it gives you a big bike feel due to the fuel tank. Instrument console could have been bigger but you will get used to it. Headlamp illumination is ok for city use although being an LED. Auxiliary lamps would help it for highway rides at night The suspension is set towards comfort side Tyres although wide enough, not recommended for hardcore cornering. Pricing is the BOMB here. It's cheaper than R15 and MT 15.
Best Features: Looks, Pricing
Pros: Toque rush , Mileage , Exhaust note
Cons: Instrument console, Tyres
Reliability of a Japanese machine.
made by Yamaha. It's Japanese, end of the argument. Yes, there are other cool bikes in the price range. But This machine will keep running while other brands bikes are guaranteed to blow up at some point since that seems to be happening everywhere.
Best Features: Fat sexy tyres, Yamaha badging.
Pros: Well built quality & refined engine. Fat rear tyres
Cons: Boring instrument console.
FZ25 is a good bike at this price range
On papers, it looks pale but has very nice acceleration because of light weight.
Best Features: Acceleration
Pros: 250 cc bike at this price
Cons: No ABS, even not as option
Boycott Yamaha FZ25
Suddenly I noticed a review video on YouTube about headlight and instrument console. Yamaha shows that their focus is on money and performance. The instrument console is so odd that Hero Glamour's console is much better than this one.
Best Features: 46 teeth sprocket
Pros: looks, handling.
Cons: low hp, worst headlight, stupid instrument console
A Good Option, But strictly for Yamaha fans!
The Yamaha FZ25 is a very decent offering, a first of a kind in the segment. It is powered by a 249 cc engine which generates a maximum power of 20.69 bhp @ 8000 rpm and gives out a maximum torque of 20 Nm @ 6000 rpm. Also being priced at INR 1,19,500 ( ex-showroom Delhi ) it is a pretty affordable value for money option. Although the bike is no match for the performance of Benelli TNT 25 in the 250 cc segment, it costs 60K less then it's Benelli rival.Yamaha FZ25 is strictly for the fans of the brand and the followers of Yamaha FZ series. Other features such as LED headlamps and tail lamps add to the value of the bike. But I believe that the bike could have been made to look a little bulkier just like the classic FZ-16. All in all the bike does not disappoint either at this price.
Best Features: Digital Instrument Console, Oil cooled Fi Technology Engine, LED Headlamps
Pros: Pricing, Fi Technology, Digital Instrument Console, Mileage
Cons: Lack of an ABS, Less Than Bulky Looks, Performance not upto the mark
Yamaha FZ6R Discussion
too costly by the looks
