Our take on this /// Verdict
The Yamaha FJR1300A is a stellar example of a sport tourer that excels in both comfort and performance. My experience with this bike has been nothing short of impressive, with its 1298cc in-line four engine delivering relentless torque and smooth power delivery across all gears. The bikes comfort is unparalleled, with a roomy riding position, adjustable windscreen, and excellent pillion accommodations. The handling is surprisingly agile, even in tighter corners, despite its bulk and weight. However, there are a few minor drawbacks, such as the need for more powerful brakes and some riders may find the gearbox could be more refined. Overall, the FJR1300A is a perfect blend of stability, comfort, and performance, making it an ideal choice for long-distance touring.
Price
In India, the Yamaha FJR1300A is not commonly available as a new purchase due to its import status and the lack of local manufacturing. However, if you were to import one, the ex-showroom price would likely be in the range of 25-30 lakhs, depending on the model year and specifications. Once you factor in import duties, taxes, and other costs, the on-road price could easily exceed 35-40 lakhs. This makes the FJR1300A a significant investment, but for those who value its unique blend of performance and comfort, it could be well worth the cost.

The 2025 Yamaha FJR1300 has been announced, featuring several updates to enhance its performance, comfort, and technology. The new model includes a refined 1,298cc inline-four engine, advanced fuel injection, and Yamahas Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) for seamless throttle response. Additionally, the bike boasts improved seating, heated grips and seats, and an adjustable windshield for better wind protection. I think these updates make the FJR1300 a compelling choice for long-distance touring enthusiasts.

Despite the lack of major changes, the 2024 Yamaha FJR1300ES will still be available in the USA and Canada. This model retains its smooth-running 1,298cc engine, six-speed transmission, and advanced features like traction control and cruise control. However, it does not include new features such as LED lighting or a slipper clutch, which can be upgraded separately. I believe this continuity is good news for fans of the FJR1300, even if its not a significant upgrade.

The Yamaha FJR1300 is facing challenges due to emissions regulations, which have limited its sale in many markets. In North America, the bikes future is uncertain, with Yamaha not planning to invest in a major upgrade to comply with current emissions standards. This situation suggests that the FJR1300s days may be numbered unless there is a significant resurgence of interest in large sport-tourers. I think its a shame, as the FJR1300 is a highly regarded bike in its class.

There have been ongoing speculations about the discontinuation of the Yamaha FJR1300. Several articles indicate that the model is winding down, particularly in more restrictive markets like Japan. However, it is noted that the bike could still be sold in less restrictive markets such as the U.S. and Canada. I believe this ambiguity keeps the future of the FJR1300 uncertain and concerning for its loyal followers.
Mileage

When it comes to mileage, the Yamaha FJR1300A is relatively economical for its size and power output. In Indian conditions, you can expect an average fuel efficiency of around 15-18 kml, which is commendable given the bikes powerful engine. With a 25-liter fuel tank, this translates to a range of approximately 375-450 kilometers per tank, making it suitable for long-distance touring without frequent fuel stops. The fuel efficiency can vary based on riding style and road conditions, but overall, it offers a good balance between performance and economy.
