TVS Motor Co. reported that the TVS XL100 sold over 1,22,715 units in the first quarter of FY2025, marking a 16.58% increase from the same period in FY2024. This translates to an average of 1,348 mopeds sold daily. The mopeds popularity is attributed to its affordability, efficiency, and load-carrying capacity, especially in rural India. I believe this consistent demand highlights the XL100s enduring relevance in the Indian market.

TVS has filed trademarks for the E-XL and XL EV, sparking speculation about an upcoming electric version of the XL100 moped. The TVS XL100 range has recently seen a price hike, though it remains one of the most affordable options in the market, with prices starting from Rs 44,999 for the base Heavy-Duty variant to Rs 60,905 for the top-end Comfort i-Touchstart variant. Despite the hike, the mopeds value proposition remains strong. I believe the price increase is a reflection of rising production costs, but the XL100s value remains intact.

This partnership aims to leverage the mopeds load-carrying capabilities and efficiency for commercial use. I think this collaboration will help in expanding the XL100s user base beyond personal use.

TVS is offering festive offers on the XL100, including EMI options starting from just Rs 1,555 per month. This move is aimed at making the moped more accessible during the festive season. I believe these offers will attract more buyers looking for an affordable and reliable two-wheeler.
