While the primary objective of the Revfest event was on introducing new products, including the Honda CBR650, company representatives also made a significant statement. Honda made a statement announcing the removal of the CB Trigger from the Indian two-wheeler market. Since the CB Trigger was marketed as a premium 150cc option, Honda's decision to make this change with the introduction of the CB Hornet 160R wasn't particularly surprising.

Honda India is aiming to sell around 26,000 units of its recently launched 150cc motorcycle, the CB Trigger in Southern states of India. The company experienced an increase of total sales of 150cc motorcycles in these states in last few months because of which they are focusing more in these regions.

Sunday, 08 September 2024 07:16 AM Honda has announced that it will not be reviving the CB Trigger in the Indian market for 2024. The bike was previously discontinued in 2015 due to poor sales and the introduction of new emission norms. Despite its strong performance and features, the CB Trigger failed to gain significant traction. I think this decision is a reflection of the companys focus on more successful models like the CB Hornet 160R.
Monday, 07 August 2023 12:14 PM The Honda CB Trigger, when it was available, was notable for being the first Honda motorcycle in India to feature an all-digital instrument console. It also came with optional CBS (Combi Braking System), disc brakes at both the front and rear, and tubeless tires. These features made it a technologically advanced bike in its segment. I believe such innovative features would have been a major selling point if priced more competitively.
Friday, 07 August 2015 07:13 AM One of the key reasons for the CB Triggers discontinuation was its pricing, which was seen as too high for the Indian market. The bike was priced between Rs 68,667 to Rs 78,234 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it less appealing compared to other 150cc bikes available at the time. I think Honda underestimated the price sensitivity of the Indian consumer.
Friday, 07 August 2015 07:17 AM The introduction of the Honda CB Hornet 160R marked a significant shift in Hondas strategy, leading to the discontinuation of the CB Trigger. The Hornet 160R was seen as a more competitive offering in the 160cc segment, which further reduced the viability of continuing the CB Trigger. I believe this move was necessary for Honda to stay competitive in the market.
Wednesday, 27 May 2015 02:24 PM The Honda CB Trigger was powered by a 149cc, air-cooled motor that produced 14.5PS of power and 12.5Nm of torque. This engine was known for its refinement and rev-happy nature, making it a joy to ride, especially in urban conditions. The smooth engine was paired with a slick 5-speed gearbox, which added to the bikes overall performance.
Wednesday, 27 May 2015 01:44 PM Despite being discontinued in India, the Honda CB Trigger continued to be produced for export markets where it maintained a strong demand. This decision highlights the bikes global appeal and its suitability for various market conditions. I think this shows that the bikes design and performance were not the issues, but rather the market dynamics in India.
Friday, 15 March 2013 10:03 PM The CB Trigger was launched in 2013 as a replacement for the CB Dazzler. It retained many of the Dazzlers features, including the 240mm front and 220mm rear disc brake setup, but added new features like the all-digital instrument console. However, it failed to replicate the success of the Unicorn, another popular Honda model. I believe the marketing strategy could have been better to highlight its unique features.
Friday, 15 March 2013 10:03 PM The bikes braking system, particularly the Combi Braking System (CBS) available in the top-end model, was praised for its effectiveness. The CBS ensured smoother slow-downs and stops, making it a valuable feature for new riders and in panicky situations. I think this feature alone made the CB Trigger stand out in its segment.
Friday, 15 March 2013 06:28 AM The Honda CB Triggers top speed was recorded at around 119 kph in the 5th gear at 9100 rpm. It also had a cruising speed of 60 kph at 4600 rpm, 80 kph at 6000 rpm, and 100 kph at 7900 rpm, all in the 5th gear. This performance made it a capable bike for both city riding and short highway trips.
Friday, 15 March 2013 09:10 AM The CB Triggers design and styling were aimed at appealing to the premium segment of 150cc bikes. It had a sleek and sporty look, which was intended to attract buyers looking for a stylish yet powerful bike. However, the design did not resonate as well as expected with the Indian market. I think the design was good but perhaps not distinctive enough to stand out.
