The 150cc Segment is picking up in India. Suzuki has been a little conservative till now with its bike models. Zeus and Heat and not extra ordinary, but it sells enough to be seen here and there a while. The company took another step ahead with the Access 125 Scooter. Yamaha has stormed the 150cc segment with the launch of YZF R15 and FZ16 , Suzuki’s foray into this segment is expected to be create similar impact in the segment with the GS150R.

Inspired from the styling of Suzuki's GSR 400 and GSR 600 -  the GS150R boasts masculine styling cues. With a bikini fairing, wolf-eyed headlamps and pilot lamps mounted on either side the styling of the GSR is little conserative. GS150R’s muscular fuel tank is alike the one seen in TVS Apache RTR.

It has no monshock, but comes with the contemporary gas charged suspension at the rear. Disc brake at the front and drum at the rear is as typical of any 150cc bike. Gear lever is the comfortable heel and toe type and GS150R comes with a six speed transmission.

The engine of the Suzuki GS150R is said to be convenient for riding in the city. The 150cc engine respires through a BS26 carburetter. It comes with Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS). GS150R's 149cc engine develops 13.8bhp of peak power at 8500rpm and 13.4Nm of peak torque 6000rpm. According to Suzuki, GS150R will return a mileage of 48kmpl in City and 55kmpl in Highway.

The engine uses engine balancer technology to minimise vibration and comes with a rubber damper and a balancer shaft. It has a digital speedometer which shows gear position, fuel level, speed, odometer, tripmeter and the tachometer is a neat dial adjacent to the digital console. It has power and economy modes. The Power mode allows the rider to gun the bike while the Economy mode helps conserve fuel.

It is available in four colours:

  • Pearl nebular black.
  • Metallic flint gray.
  • Candy max orange.
  • Candy dark greenish blue.

Suzuki GS150R has been attractively priced at Rs.59000.00 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Dear Bike lovers, I’m here to share few observations on my Suzuki GS150R which help for new bikers to opt and here is the review. Yes this is suitable to Excecutives, Family, Commutters, Office goers may be for some college students.

    Here is the positive (+)
    > Look and Design which will suit for all class (I’m married my wife wont like student class bike since the seat rear is not appropriate) This will suit for all.
    > Bulky (Macho Fuel Tank) capacity of 15 ltrs and fuel indicator
    > State of Art Tachometer with 3 stage Trip meter- ODO, Trip A&B, Chromeplated RPM meter, Digital Time Display which helps to see time for office commuters.
    > Balanced weight (150CC and kerb wg 150 kg) ideal like enfield
    >Six Speed Gear, 1 down and rest up and 13.8 Bhp
    > No jerk even in 4-6 gears with speed low as 35 kms and feather touch gear which gives unique silky drive
    > Powerful Head beam and integrated LED rear lighting including turn indicator, gives ideal safe driving for Delhi and other parts north India due to Fog/Smog weather conditions.
    > Good performance in Highways with good balance, its ture their slogan Drive me crazy.....
    > Minimum noise while driving and gives silky drive
    > Good Braking technology, smooth front disc barke on left side which is unique from other bikes.
    >Rear Gas Shocks with 6 stage adjustable positions
    > And Finally world class Suzuki engine with State of Art technology for Indian roads

    Negative Aspects (-)
? Handle is hard and feel strain after long drive, perhaps this may due to new bike and need time to settle down (somebody can give expertise guidance)
? Cannot able to turn withn short radius
? Drowsy kickstart, need every time to pull out kicker with hands
? Manual Choke, need to position back manually before ride
? Shocks sets for Highway drive and feels on horseback when you drive rough Indian roads locally, perhaps we may need to set 6 stage adjustable schock positions, come out from factory in 3rd stage.
? Come without tubeless tyres (Perhaps life span of tubeless tyres are shorter than regular ones)
Milage - Before 1st Service in Delhi roads around 52-56 Kmpl, wait for update after 1st service.

    Hi,

I got this bike couple of months ago and drove 1500 kms as of now. Bike seems to be really nice. And mainly the 6 gear, adds smoothness and mileage to bike.Average mileage that I get is 55 kms in city.I wont say I dont get knocking problems but its really less when compared to other bikes of same segment.

Also the imparted balancer technology is really nice ,that the bike never vibrates at 100 km/hr.I have finished the first service at 700 kms and the maximum speed I drove was 100 kms adn that too only once .

Usual speed that I drive is 55-65 kms and I get a mileage of 55+kmpl for that. But when I rash drive the bike
(i mean reviving the rpm to even 6000+ easily at 1st and 2 nd gear ) it reduced the mileage by upto 5 kms. But i guess its nothing to worry, as its a expected one.Gear shifting is really really butter smooth.

One negative thing I found in the bike is its weight. While in drive u dont feel that u r driving a 149 kg bike but once the engine is switched off , u will definitely feel the difference especially when u park in a crowded parking lot. Digital console in the bike is really excellent.

Power mode and economy modes adds to the extra features. And i mostly drive at economy mode only. While at power mode,u can feel the initial pickup too a good one.But at economy mode, the initial pickup is not as good as pulsar or apache.Mid range pickup is nice even at economy mode.

And overall I am satisfied with what for I bought the bike.
