TVS Apache RTR 160 2V Review
Detailed Review by Maxabout Team
Overview
In India, TVS just introduced the upgraded RTR 160 and RTR 180. A person might not notice the changes based on their appearance, yet there are lots of them. TVS refers to them as "all-new Racer's Choice" models. Both motorcycles have received visual and technical modifications from TVS Motors.
For almost 10 years, the TVS Apache RTR 160 has been a track mainstay, pushing the limits of performance. The famous race machine is now poised to become the next racer's choice. It is the first in its class to feature ride modes, elevating an already formidable performance machine to new heights.
TVS Apache RTR 160 Design and Style
TVS has given the New Apache RTR 160 a much-needed facelift, making it more relevant in today's 160cc market with a new appearance and functionality. The all-new LED Headlamp has been engineered to provide optimum illumination. The ominous design of the 'Beast Eyes' is given a modern twist. The LED position lamp is always on and ready to go. The LED tail lamp has a commanding appearance, designed to intimidate you as you take the lead on the racetrack. This, together with the redesigned artwork, gives the new RTR 160 a sportier appearance than before.
Other stylistic improvements include a revised headlight cowl and side panels. However, we believe the bike should have undergone considerable design alterations to get an even more modern appearance. The sharp tank cowl, designed to cut through the air, reduces drag while also lowering engine heat by 10°C. The engine cowl has been designed to be sharp and angular, allowing it to slice through the air while making a statement on the track. The TVS Apache RTR is kept cool during the race thanks to tank scoops. These are intended to send cool air into the engine while circulating warm air out. The sculpted contour of the tail cowl complements the TVS Apache's intimidating look.
TVS Apache RTR 160 Engine and Gearbox
The BS-VI Race Tuned Fuel Injection (RT-Fi) technology powers the all-new TVS Apache RTR 160, increasing power to 16.04 HP. The engine has been adjusted by the intelligent system so that racers can enjoy the engine's peak performance in every race circumstance. The race-derived engine has a short-stroke setup for lightning-fast acceleration. The engine produces a lot of torque, and the high top-end revs translate to faster racing speeds. A 159.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled, fuel-injected engine with a 5-speed gearbox now produces 16.04 HP at 8750 rpm and 13.85 Nm at 7000 rpm. This implies that it produces 0.51 HP more power and the torque has decreased by 0.05 Nm and also weighs 2kg less than its predecessor.
TVS Apache RTR 160 Suspension, Brakes and Tyres
2023 TVS Apache RTR 160 2V features a double cradle "Synchrostiff" frame, telescopic front fork, and twin 5-step preload-adjustable gas-charged shock absorbers in the rear. Cornering aggression and agility are perfectly balanced by the rear monotube inverted gas-filled 5-step adjustable shocks and rectangular swingarm. With split clip-on handlebars, a brake pedal, and a gear lever, the racer is now in complete control. The ergonomics are intended to make the racer feel like they are a part of the track machine. Its braking system consists of a 270mm front petal disc coupled to a 130mm drum or 200mm petal disc at the rear. At the rear, TVS has fitted a 110/80-17 Tubeless or 120/70-17 Tubeless (Disc BT) section tyre. While the front one remains a 90-section unit, TVS includes a single-channel ABS as standard.
Key Features of TVS Apache RTR 160
The New RTR 160 now has a new completely digital instrument cluster in its current edition. The clusters are available in three riding modes: Sport, Urban, and Rain. They now get voice assistance as well, which is a first in the section. With SmartXonnect, you can link your smartphone to the motorcycle's console via Bluetooth, giving you access to call and SMS notifications, turn-by-turn navigation, and a wealth of other information. However, Bluetooth is only available on the top-of-the-line model. It also includes Glide Through Traffic technology, which is a low-speed assist that assures the bike crawls using only clutch modulation and no throttle. This should be quite useful on congested roadways. It has a single-channel ABS system rather than a dual-channel device to save money. The bike now has a new LED headlamp and tail lamp, as well as a redesigned headlight cowl.
Top Speed and Mileage of TVS Apache RTR 160
The top speed of the 2023 TVS Apache RTR 160 in the Sport mode is 107 km/h and in the Urban/Rain mode is 97 km/h. It is expected to give the same mileage figures as before if not better, which were around 45 to 50 km/l.
TVS Apache RTR 160 Colour Options
TVS offers the New Apache RTR 160 in 5 different colour options: Pearl White, Matte Blue, Racing Red, T-Grey, and Gloss Black.
TVS Apache RTR 160 Competitors

True experience
Just after 400 kms, it does not feel the same way as it used to be before.
Best Features: Bi LED lights, suspension, dual channel ABS, looks
Pros: Great looks and good suspension
Cons: Vibrations from engine.
TVS Apache RR 310
Automatic headlights can create battery problems. It happened on my Apache 200.
Best Features: Looks & its features
Pros: Sporty Look
Cons: AHO system
I need to know the economy speed of Apache 200
It sounds impressive and I need to buy one. It takes good enough time for 100 kmph but what about the economy speed?
Best Features: Console, sound is just awesome
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
TVS Apache RTR 180 is a beast
It has the required grunt in its engine. The RTR name is perfect for the bike. The best street fighter ever.
Best Features: Design, perfect for city
Pros: Exhaust sound, throttle response
Cons: Top speed is lower than others
Stylish and Good Performer
Style: It's a beautifully crafted beast, when you just sit on the bike you feel like you are in a Race. Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: It's loaded with 160CC powerful RTR engine that you can really feel it. And fuel economy is good! I have just done with 2nd service (today) and so far I have got 60kmpl riding around 55km/hr and had never crossed 60km/hr.. but today I was really exited and happy to ride my beast at its best, I really enjoyed the pickup, speed, thrill.... coming to gearbox it lags (some times), it is smooth while the up shifts and stuck while down shifts and have to slow down the bike for down shifts but this is a common problem in all bike range. Ride Quality & Handling: Ride quality and Handling is extremely good.. but rear tyre slips when you brake, you might have to use good quality tyres. Areas of improvement: Riding comfort as riders get back ache, tyres, gearbox
Best Features: RTR, dashboard has many options, etc
Pros: Good performance, stylish, fuel economy, ride quality
Cons: Comfort, gearbox
Discussion
I own an apache rtr 160 2017 model. I have purchased it in 2017 feb. As i was an rtr fan i bought it though there are many rivals available in the market currently. I love its throaty exhaust note. I was satisfied with the performance but not over whelmed. The throttle response is not at all good as the preceeding model. Neither the brakes are. They do not offer powerful braking like the previous model (mine is rear drum variant. So that could be the problem). Worst part are the tyres. The remoras offered tends to skid often. Mileage im getting is around 45-48 kmpl under standard driving conditions (50-60 kmph speeds). I had done 2 services by now and awaiting for the third in a couple of days. Overall satisfied with my bike. Expecting performance enhancement after the third service.

No response prom TVS people.
the tvs apache 160 reaches a top speed of 130kmph..n dis is saved in my digi speedometer as a proof cuz magazines and the company says its top speed is only 118... the bike is quite fast bt a bad riding quality for a tall person. the bike at high speeds leaves the road and flies if there are bumps damn difficult to control it then.. the vibration is bad. the rear tyre has d worst grip wich leaves the road if it gets a bit old. I feel d tvs shld cumout with a little mpre comfortable bike keepin in mind tall people also...

First of all,I purchased a tvs apache 160 from sameer tvs, nayapalli this
year.It was defective.I have changed the whole lock set(key).I didn't
able to detect the petrol tank lock ,so I suffered loss because of
leaking of the gas I.E petrol from the tank.Later I have experienced a
shaking sound from the headlight section. That problem is still existing
.It is unresolved yet. And finally I came to know that there is a major
technical fault in the engine I.E in bore piston. They promised me to
change it but after 1and 1/2 months have passed they are telling me you
wait for another 15 days.If this is the problem in capital of odisha
then you can guess the condition of other districts and city. The first
fault is that their website so outdated that you cannt even contact them
or mail them.If you will send them then you will be directed to some
other page.I have also purchased a mobil for refuelling the engine in a
gap of 4 or 5 days.Because due to tecnical fault in engine it consumes
the engine iloil very fast. And my bike runs 45 km /Litre.I M mentally
tortured and getting axhausted day by day.All I want is value for the
money nothing more and nothing less.
