Tata Motors has set the stage for a revolutionary shift in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) landscape with the official launch of the Tata Punch EV. Priced competitively at Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 14.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Punch EV aims to redefine standards in the EV segment and challenge competitors like the Citroen eC3 and the upcoming Hyundai Exter EV. With a range of 421 km the Punch EV presents a compelling case for EV adoption contributing to the fast-paced evolution of the Indian automotive market.

Born-Electric Platform:

  • Unlike earlier Tata EVs, such as the Nexon EV and Tiago/Tigor EV, which shared platforms with their internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts, the Punch EV is built on a new born-electric EV architecture named 'acti.ev.'
  • This platform not only enhances performance but also maximizes cabin space and prioritizes occupant safety, adhering to advanced global standards.

Price, Range, and Specifications:

  • The Tata Punch EV is available in two variants: Standard and Long Range (LR).
  • The Standard model comes with a 25-kWh battery pack, offering a range of 315 km, while the LR variant features a larger 35 kWh battery pack, providing an extended range of 421 km (as per MIDC cycle).
  • Punch EV is offered in four trims: Smart, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+, with prices ranging from Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 14.49 lakh.
  • Multi-mode Regen technology enhances real-world range.

Styling and Features:

  • The Punch EV adopts Tata's new design language, seen in models like the Harrier, Safari, and Nexon facelift.
  • Key design features include LED projector headlamps, connected DRLs with full-width lighting, a closed-off front grille, metallic-finish faux skid plate, body cladding, C-pillar mounted rear door handles, and rugged bumper with edgy tail lamps.
  • Interior highlights encompass leatherette ventilated front seats, 360° surround view camera, blind spot view monitor, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument console, wireless smartphone charger, air purifier with AQI display, sunroof, and safety features like ESP and 6 airbags across all variants.

Connectivity and Technology:

  • The Punch EV features advanced connectivity through Arcade.ev – App suite, offering a range of smart and interactive features.
  • Infotainment controls are facilitated by a touch-sensitive phygital control panel, and the SUV incorporates voice commands, electronic parking brake with auto hold, SOS function, DC fast charging, and other innovative technologies.
  • The Punch EV continues the trend of incorporating Tata's illuminated two-spoke steering wheel with no physical buttons on the center console.
