Tata has recently cut prices on two of its popular electric vehicles one of which is the Tata Tiago EV. This price adjustment has brought the Tiago EV's XZ Plus Lux long-range (LR) trim to a similar price point as the Tata Punch EV Smart Plus medium-range (MR) variant. Tata attributes this price reduction to the decreased cost of battery packs. Additionally, the company notes that the reduced battery pack costs were already factored in when launching the Punch EV, so further price revisions for it are unlikely shortly.

Following a Rs 15,000 price cut, the Tata Tiago EV XZ Plus Lux long-range option is now Rs 10,000 cheaper than the Punch EV's one-step-up base Smart Plus variant.

Although both EVs have similar battery packs, the difference in charging time becomes more pronounced. Both EVs support 50 kW DC fast charging, allowing them to charge from 10 to 80 percent in under one hour. However, Tata doesn't offer the option of a 7.2 kW AC charger with the medium-range variants of the Punch EV, in contrast, this charger can be added to the Tiago EV LR model for an extra Rs 50,000.

The Tata Tiago EV XZ Plus Tech Lux Long Range is a good option and provides better value for the money if convenience features are your top priority. However, if you prioritize space, safety features, and added ground clearance, the Tata Punch EV Smart Plus Medium Range is the better option for you.
