Honda has streamlined its Amaze lineup, now offering just two trim levels: the S and the VX. This change marks a significant shift from the previous range of variants, reflecting Honda's strategy to simplify its offerings in anticipation of the next-generation Amaze's launch, expected around Diwali 2024.
Price Adjustments and Variant Discontinuation
As part of this lineup adjustment, Honda has increased the prices for the Amaze variants by Rs 5,500. The Amaze Elite Edition, a special variant introduced during the festive season last year, has been discontinued. This edition, based on the top-end VX variant, boasted additional features like a rear spoiler and illuminated sidesteps but was likely a limited-run model. The entry-level E variant, priced at Rs 7.20 lakh and primarily targeted at fleet operators, has also been phased out. Its limited success, compared to rivals offering factory-fitted CNG kits, led to its discontinuation.
Current Variants and Pricing
With these changes, the Honda Amaze is now available in two variants: the S and the VX. The manual S variant is priced at Rs 7.93 lakh, while the VX variant comes in at Rs 9.04 lakh. For those preferring automatic transmission, the CVT versions are priced at Rs 8.83 lakh for the S CVT and Rs 9.86 lakh for the VX CVT.
Anticipation for the Next-Generation Amaze
The upcoming third-generation Honda Amaze is generating considerable excitement. Expected to debut by Diwali 2024, it will be based on the same platform as the City and Elevate but with modifications, including a shorter wheelbase. The design is expected to draw inspiration from larger Honda sedans sold in international markets, while the interior will see a thorough upgrade. The new Amaze will retain the current 1.2-liter, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, available with a 5-speed manual transmission and an optional CVT. It will continue to face competition from the Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor, and the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which is also expected to receive a generational update soon.
