Hero Xoom 160 Launching Soon

Hero MotoCorp has been diligently working on the development of its latest offering, the Xoom 160, for quite some time now. Recently, the ADV scooter was unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Expo generating significant buzz in the industry. The scooter is expected to launch in a few weeks according to reports.

For Hero MotoCorp, the Xoom 160 represents a strategic foray into the premium scooter market in India. Currently, the Yamaha Aerox holds sway in this segment as the sole scooter under 200cc with a liquid-cooled engine. Hero's Xoom 160 tries to challenge Japanese manufacturers' domination in this sector, with promising features and performance on paper.

Distinctive Design Elements

One of the standout features of the Xoom 160 is its distinctive ADV-inspired design. This is particularly evident in the front apron, which sports split LED headlights and a tall windscreen. The side profile has the appearance of a maxi-scooter, with lengthened body panels, a central spine, and a sleek tail section. While the aesthetics are appealing, final judgments on quality, fit, and finish will have to wait until the production-spec scooter is put through its paces.

Powerful Performance Under the Hood

Under the hood, the Xoom 160 is expected to pack a punch with its 156cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. Preliminary figures suggest an output of 14bhp at 8,000rpm and 13.7Nm at 6,500rpm. While these specifications are based on the pre-production model, minimal deviations are anticipated in the final production version.

Competitive Pricing and Market Competition

The Hero Xoom is anticipated to carry a price tag of approximately Rs. 1.3 lakh, ex-showroom. Upon its launch, it will directly compete with formidable rivals such as the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Aprilia SXR 160. Hero Xoom's release is expected to intensify competition in the premium class and add excitement to the Indian scooter market which is still developing.
