Where sales numbers are concerned, Hero isn’t the big name in scooter market. The next scooter launch from Hero MotoCorp isn’t gonna ramp up scooter sales numbers in any way as it targets a niche. Instead, Hero Xoom 160 ADV scooter is to show the world that it can manufacture high-quality premium products, just like it has aced budget commuter segment. With Xoom 160, Hero will be launching India’s first indigenous high-capacity sporty scooter with ADV design language. Export potential with Xoom 160 is very huge too. Xoom 160 will be sold via Hero’s Premia dealerships. Xoom 160 surely is Hero’s halo scooter and will stay that way for a very long time. Hero debuted Xoom 160 at 2023 EICMA Show in Milan and it is being showcased in India for the first time alongside new Mavrick 440 and launch of Xtreme 125R.

Key Points

  1. Design and Styling: With its unique design that draws inspiration from adventure, the Hero Xoom 160 ADV stands out. The scooter has a strong apron and a tough-looking headlamp system up front, with LED lights for better visibility. Moving towards the rear, the Xoom 160 ADV features a stepped seat for both the rider and pillion, emphasizing comfort during long rides.
  2. Engine and Performance: Powering the Hero Xoom 160  is a 160cc engine, delivering a balance of power and fuel efficiency. Hero MotoCorp is likely to emphasize a smooth and responsive engine, catering to both city commuting and occasional off-road adventures.
  3. Suspension and Chassis: Designed for adventure, the Xoom 160 ADV is expected to feature robust suspension systems to handle diverse terrains. A thorough walkaround should provide information on the front and rear suspension setups of the scooter, stressing any modifiable parts or modern innovations intended to improve stability and comfort on the trip. The chassis construction is another aspect worth exploring during the walkaround.
  4. Technology and Connectivity: Modern scooters are increasingly incorporating advanced technology to enhance the overall riding experience. Connectivity options, including smartphone integration for calls and music, are becoming standard in the scooter market, and it would be interesting to see if Hero has integrated such features into the Xoom 160 ADV.
  5. Tires and Braking System: Given its adventure-oriented focus, the choice of tires is crucial for the Xoom 160 ADV. The braking system, including the type of brakes (disc or drum) and the inclusion of advanced braking features like ABS, will play a vital role in ensuring rider safety.
  6. Walkaround Experience: A detailed walkaround of the Hero Xoom 160 ADV will provide enthusiasts and potential buyers with a firsthand look at the scooter's design, features, and build quality.
  7. Potential Impact on the Market: As the adventure scooter segment is relatively new in India, the unveiling of the Hero Xoom 160 ADV could mark a significant shift in consumer preferences.

Conclusion

Suspension is taken care of by front RSU telescopic forks and twin rear shock absorbers. Both wheels get disc brakes and single-channel ABS is a probability. Keyless entry and i3S stop/start feature are notable attributes as well. The main talking point of Xoom 160 has to be its 14 bhp liquid-cooled 160cc engine which is a first for any indigenous scooter in India.
Launch could happen in the coming months and it will directly take on a similarly specced Yamaha Aerox 155 sporty scooter. Aerox starts from Rs. 1.47 lakh. If Hero MotoCorp priced Xoom 160 at around Rs. 1.2 lakh, they can pull more buyers towards their flagship scooters.
