Yamaha R15 is a benchmark of performance and quality in 150cc segment. India never had another 150cc motorcycle that could match the success of Yamaha’s lightweight racer. Powered by a 149cc, liquid cooled and fuel injected engine, R15 is good for 16.8 BHP and 15 Nm of torque.
The bikes comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Yamaha R15 is a speed champ with 131 kmph of top speed. The figure is impressive for a 150cc motorcycle. Rivals of this segment are actually much weaker in comparison except Suzuki Gixxer SF, claiming a top speed of 127 kmph.

When compared on the basis of top speed, rivals of this segment includes Bajaj Pulsar NS200, Pulsar RS200, Pulsar 220F, TVS Apache RTR 200, Yamaha FZ25, KTM Duke 200 and RC 200. All of these belong to different segments and majority of them have bigger engines (200cc-250cc) for better 0-100 kmph sprints than Yamaha R15.
