Does the Mahindra BE.05's expected price tag justify an Indian brand?
31 December 2024 09:39
I think it's smart pricing. It's not so expensive that it's unattainable, but it is aspirational enough to make you want to spend more money on less. This puts Mahindra in the premium EV space, a category in which it can now seriously play.
Does the Mahindra BE.05's expected price tag justify an Indian brand?
31 December 2024 09:39
So let’s wait and see the final product first. If it can deliver on all its promises, and have that wow factor, 25 lakhs could be justified. Mahindra has to really impress to pull this off, however.
Is the Mahindra BE.05’s design too futuristic for the Indian market?
31 December 2024 09:39
I feel it's about time we had some exciting designs in India! It's going to turn heads and the BE.05 looks sick. Yes some uncles will find it too 'modern', but I bet the younger buyers will love it.
Is the Mahindra BE.05’s design too futuristic for the Indian market?
31 December 2024 09:39
Nah, it's too much. What Indians want are practical, no nonsense cars. It looks like something from a sci fi movie. Good luck trying to sell that to the average family in need of a reliable SUV.
Is the Mahindra BE.05’s design too futuristic for the Indian market?
31 December 2024 09:39
The move is bold but I think Mahindra's timing is good. The future is EVs, so why not let's design like it? That’ll help distinguish the BE.05 from the usual cookie cutter SUVs.
Is the Mahindra BE.05’s design too futuristic for the Indian market?

That sloping roofline makes me worried about visibility. It looks cool but can you see anything out the back? What about headroom for tall passenger? Practicality shouldn’t come at the cost of style.

Now let’s be real, most people buying this will be in cities where it will fit right in. Mahindra isn't targeting rural areas with this. I feel urban Indians are ready for something different.
Off-road, can the Jimny really compete with the Mahindra Thar?
31 December 2024 09:03
No way. With a more powerful engine and better setup suspension, the Thar is in a different league. The Thar is capable, where Jimny is cute.
Off-road, can the Jimny really compete with the Mahindra Thar?
31 December 2024 09:03
Absolutely! Lightweight and small enough, the Jimny is much more nimble off road. The Thar is too bulky to go there, but the Hilux can.
Off-road, can the Jimny really compete with the Mahindra Thar?
31 December 2024 09:03
They don’t compete, they excel in different areas. On tight trails and forest roads, the Jimny is better than the Thar, and on more open, challenging terrain the Thar is the better choice.
Off-road, can the Jimny really compete with the Mahindra Thar?
31 December 2024 09:03
On paper, the Thar wins. But in the real off roading, the driver skill is more important than the specs. Many a times a well driven Jimny will match or even better a Thar in many situations.
Off-road, can the Jimny really compete with the Mahindra Thar?
31 December 2024 09:03
The Jimny is a mountain goat around the world. Even if it doesn't have the Thar's power, its light weight and proven 4x4 system make it a formidable off roader.
Off-road, can the Jimny really compete with the Mahindra Thar?
31 December 2024 09:03
Let's face it, most buyers will never push either vehicle to its limits. Both are more than capable for the average enthusiast. The Jimny just does it, but with more charm.
Off-road, can the Jimny really compete with the Mahindra Thar?
31 December 2024 09:03
The biggest advantage of Jimny is its size. It can drive over narrow trails where a Thar would be stuck. The Jimny is the one to have for serious off roading in tight spaces.
So how does the Gypsy stack up against today's off roader like the new Mahindra Thar?
30 December 2024 10:32
Off road, the Gypsy is still king. It's light and simple mechanics make it very able in tougher terrain. The new Thar is more comfortable than the Gypsy, but can't match its agility.
So how does the Gypsy stack up against today's off roader like the new Mahindra Thar?
30 December 2024 10:32
Thar is far superior to modern off-roaders. More safety, comfort and reliability without losing much off road capability. The Gypsy is a relic, but it’s fun.
So how does the Gypsy stack up against today's off roader like the new Mahindra Thar?
30 December 2024 10:32
It's apples and oranges. It is a pure mechanical experience that’s hard to replicate. The Thar is all the more reasonable for regular use. It all depends on what you’re looking for.
So how does the Gypsy stack up against today's off roader like the new Mahindra Thar?
30 December 2024 10:32
Modifiability goes to the Gypsy. Every part can be tweaked and upgraded easily. Today’s vehicles are simply too complex and electronic for easy DIY mods.
So how does the Gypsy stack up against today's off roader like the new Mahindra Thar?
30 December 2024 10:32
I'd take the Thar any day. It is safer, more comfortable, and still good enough off road. The Gypsy is cool, but you don't want to make compromises in daily use.
How practical is the Mahindra Xylo's boxy design, a deal breaker or an advantage?
30 December 2024 06:42
I honestly like the boxy design. Driving it is like driving a mini bus, and that extra headroom is a godsend for tall people as I am. Plus, it’s so much easier to park than those curvy SUVs that you can’t see the corners.
