I’ve driven mine 50,000 km with no major issues. The way that you keep it is all that it is. It will last if you treat it well.

The build quality is inconsistent. Some are surprisingly good, others are obviously cheap. It's a mixed bag.

The Platina definitely feels less sturdy, coming from a Hero Splendor. It’s also significantly cheaper, so I can’t complain too much.

They were better built. Bajaj seems to be cutting more corners these days to keep the price low.

I've had my Platina for 3 years and only had a slight oil leak. Most problems are due to neglect and regular maintenance is key.

After just 7 months my Platina started showing black smoke. The service center couldn't really fix it. I believe Bajaj had to compromise on quality to keep the price low.

You can’t compare it to Japanese bikes. Built to a price point, if you don’t mind its limitations the Platina does a job.

I am a mechanic and I have seen more Platinas with engine problems than other 100cc bikes. Some components show the cost cutting.

A budget bike is expected to do too much. If you treat it well, stick to the service schedule, it will serve you just fine. Mine's been trouble-free for 40,000 km.

The problem is not with the engine, it's with Bajaj's terrible service centers. They don’t properly diagnose issues and just replace parts unnecessarily.

I have owned a Platina and have also owned a Hero Splendor. There's nothing to say it doesn't feel less refined and more likely to niggle.
But is the comfort on the Bajaj Platina 100 really as good as Bajaj claims it to be with their "ComforTec" technology?
29 January 2025 09:29
The ComforTec isn't just hype. I shifted from a Hero Splendor and the difference in the ride quality is very noticeable, especially on bad roads.

It's ok for 100cc bike, but don't expect miracles. You will still feel it in your back after an hour of riding.

The seat is the weak point. The seat padding is thin, and negates a lot of the comfort benefit on long rides, but the suspension is good.

My friend's Honda CD 110 is more comfortable than I am. The setup with spring in spring really helps to absorb small bumps.

ComforTec is overrated. My old Discover was more comfortable. Faster and the Platina feels too softly sprung and wallowy.

For city commuting, it's great. On highways, however, the lack of weight makes it feel unstable, negating any comfort advantages.

It's all relative. The Platina feels like a cloud coming from a motorcycle with a stiffer setup. At the end of the day, it's still a budget commuter.
Do owners of the Bajaj Platina 100 really have the king of mileage?
29 January 2025 09:29
I’ve been riding Platina for 2 years now and get 75-80 kmpl in city traffic consistently. It’s not the 90 kmpl that Bajaj advertises, but it’s not bad at all.
Do owners of the Bajaj Platina 100 really have the king of mileage?
29 January 2025 09:29
King of mileage? More like king of disappointment. Within 6 months my mileage dropped from 85 to 60 kmpl. Bajaj's claims are totally exaggerated.
