Discussions and Questions Bajaj Platina - Page 2

Is Bajaj Platina 125 a reliable bike for daily long distance commuting?
29 January 2025 09:47
Reliable, it won't strand you, but expect small, annoying problems. You get things like rattles, loose bolts, and the occasional sensor failure. Not really major stuff, but annoying for a daily driver.
Is the Bajaj Platina 125 really deserving of the upgrade from its 110cc sibling?
29 January 2025 09:47
I really don't think it is worth it. In real world riding the extra 15cc makes not much of a difference. You would be better off saving a bit of money and taking the 110 ABS version instead.
Is the Bajaj Platina 125 really deserving of the upgrade from its 110cc sibling?

Disagree. On highways, 125cc engine makes a difference. Power isn’t the only thing, it’s also about engine stress at higher speeds. The 125 feels more relaxed at 70-80 kmph.

I owned both of these and it really depends on your usage for the better. If you’re only doing pure city commuting, stick with the 110. If you do weekend rides, or have to take on some hills, then the 125 is worth considering.
Is the Bajaj Platina 125 really deserving of the upgrade from its 110cc sibling?
29 January 2025 09:47
It’s a worthwhile upgrade, but not for the same reasons that everyone thinks. The build quality is slightly better and it has an improved suspension, which is why, in my opinion the 125 is a better buy.
Is the Bajaj Platina 125 really deserving of the upgrade from its 110cc sibling?

I would say that neither is a very good pick. You can get into the 150cc segment for a bit more money and it has a much better overall package. The Pulsar 150 and even the Honda Unicorn are light years ahead.

But we can’t forget about resale value. The 125cc bikes in fact hold their value better than the 110cc bikes. If you’re thinking of upgrading in a few years, the 125 could actually end up saving you money over time.

People are missing the point of the Platina I think. Fuel efficiency and low maintenance are the things. That's why, in that regard, the 110 is still the king. The 125 compromises on these aspects for marginal gains.
I wonder why Bajaj has not added ABS to the Platina 125 when the 110cc has it?
29 January 2025 09:47
In all likelihood, it's just a cost cutting measure. They are trying to keep the base price low because most buyers in this segment are price sensitive, Bajaj says.
I wonder why Bajaj has not added ABS to the Platina 125 when the 110cc has it?
29 January 2025 09:47
I think it’s more of a marketing strategy. What they’re trying to do is give people a reason to choose the 110 instead of the 125. The 125 would cannibalize the 110's sales completely if it had ABS.
I wonder why Bajaj has not added ABS to the Platina 125 when the 110cc has it?
29 January 2025 09:47
They should add ABS to the 125, it's ridiculous they haven't. Marketing gimmicks and cost cutting should never be at the cost of safety. I would gladly pay more for ABS on the 125.
I wonder why Bajaj has not added ABS to the Platina 125 when the 110cc has it?
29 January 2025 09:47
I don’t think ABS is necessary on a 125cc commuter, unpopular opinion. It just adds unnecessary complexity and cost — these bikes aren't fast enough to really benefit from it.
I wonder why Bajaj has not added ABS to the Platina 125 when the 110cc has it?
29 January 2025 09:47
This could be because Bajaj is planning to introduce an ABS version of the 125 later at a premium. Launching a basic version first and adding features is a classic way to justify a price hike.

I stuck with my old Platina because the 125 doesn’t have ABS. Safety features should get better as you go up the range, not disappear. This is just poor product planning from Bajaj.

Let’s be real, how many Platina riders are riding their bikes so hard that ABS would actually save their lives? This is not a sport bike, this is a city commuter. For its purpose, basic brakes are fine.
Can the Platina 110’s claimed 80 kmpl fuel efficiency be achieved in real life?
29 January 2025 09:42
No way! In city traffic I barely get 65 kmpl. You could hit 80 on long highway rides, but that’s not realistic for most users.
Can the Platina 110’s claimed 80 kmpl fuel efficiency be achieved in real life?
29 January 2025 09:42
I ride very conservatively, and I’m actually getting pretty close to 80 kmpl. You can, but you really have to work at it.
Can the Platina 110’s claimed 80 kmpl fuel efficiency be achieved in real life?
29 January 2025 09:42
These claimed figures are in ideal conditions only. Even 110cc bike can deliver real world 70 75 kmpl.
Can the Platina 110’s claimed 80 kmpl fuel efficiency be achieved in real life?
29 January 2025 09:42
I believe it's a lot about maintenance. If you keep the chain lubed, the air filter clean, the tire pressure right, you can get pretty close to 80.

The trouble is, when you ride to go the farthest distance possible, you become a road hazard. Safety requires you to keep up with traffic flow.
