Volkswagen Passat Petrol Automatic

About
The Volkswagen Passat is a luxury sedan that stands out for its blend of comfort, safety, and performance. Powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 177PS and 350Nm of torque, it is mated to a 6-speed DSG gearbox that provides smooth and quick gear shifts. The car features a robust safety package with nine airbags, ABS, and ASR, ensuring a secure driving experience. Inside, the Passat is equipped with luxurious amenities such as leather seats, ventilated seats, a massage function for the drivers seat, and a three-zone climate control system. The Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) enhances ride comfort and stability, making it an excellent cruiser on both city roads and highways. With a spacious interior, ample boot space of 586 litres, and advanced features like automatic climate control and voice commands, the Passat is designed to provide a serene and comfortable driving experience. However, the petrol automatic variant, if available, would likely offer similar comforts but with a different engine profile.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Volkswagen Passat, particularly in its petrol automatic variant, is a car that exudes class and comfort, but it comes with some caveats. While it boasts a sleek and discreet design that appeals to those who prefer understated elegance, the petrol engine is not the primary focus for this model in India, as the diesel version is more commonly available. However, if you do opt for the petrol automatic, youll appreciate the smooth gear shifts of the 6-speed DSG gearbox and the comfortable ride it offers. The Passat is well-equipped with features like leather seats, ventilated seats, and a three-zone climate control, making it a luxurious ride. However, the lack of a petrol automatic variant in the current market lineup might make it less accessible. Overall, its a great choice for those seeking comfort and luxury, but the availability and practicality of the petrol engine need careful consideration.
Price
The Volkswagen Passat in India is primarily available in diesel variants, with prices ranging from Rs. 30.21 lakh to Rs. 33.22 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Comfortline and Highline variants, respectively. Since the petrol automatic variant is not currently part of the standard lineup, pricing for such a model would be speculative. However, if we were to consider a hypothetical petrol automatic variant, it would likely fall within a similar price bracket. On-road prices would add additional costs such as registration, insurance, and other local taxes, potentially pushing the total cost to around Rs. 35-40 lakh, depending on the state and local regulations. This places the Passat in a premium segment, competing with other luxury sedans in the market.
Mileage
Friday, 22 November 2024 12:58 AM For the Volkswagen Passat, particularly the diesel variants which are more prevalent, the mileage is quite impressive. While the petrol automatic is not standard, the diesel version offers a claimed fuel economy of 17.42 kmpl. In real-world conditions, users have reported mileage ranging from 14 to 16 kmpl, which is commendable for a car of its size and luxury features. This makes the Passat a viable option for those concerned about running costs, especially on long drives.

Poor after sales service costed me to replace gearbox at the end of 8 years, after that slowly car showed ageing and had to replace my throttle body assembly and the ECM. Poor diagnostic skills... they only know to replace the assembly by quoting the VIN based character for each part.. I am fed up but still love my Passat...

Best Features: Comfort, roomy, very large trunk and highly refined petrol engine.

Pros: Good handling

Cons: Very expensive to maintain
