About
The Tata Indigo eCS GVX is a compact sedan that has been refined over the years to enhance its efficiency and driveability. It comes with a 1.4-litre CR4 common-rail diesel engine, producing 70 PS of power and 140 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine is known for its linear power delivery and good torque spread, making it suitable for both city and highway driving. The car features a reworked suspension geometry that improves ride quality, especially over larger bumps, though the low-speed ride can be a bit jiggly. The interior is spacious with good leg room, but it lacks in terms of ergonomic comfort and modern features. The exterior styling is straightforward and functional, rather than stylish. Overall, the Indigo eCS GVX is a practical choice for those seeking a reliable, fuel-efficient, and affordable sedan.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Tata Indigo eCS GVX is a pragmatic choice for those prioritizing value and low running costs. While it may not excel in terms of refinement or dynamic handling, it offers a compelling package for its price. The cars linear power delivery and good torque spread make it easy to navigate city roads and cruise on highways. However, the steering feels vague, and the gearbox, although improved, still lacks precision. The ride quality is a highlight, with the car handling larger bumps well, though low-speed ride can be jiggly. If youre looking for a fuel-efficient and spacious sedan with minimal frills, the Indigo eCS GVX is a smart buy, but dont expect it to match the driving pleasure or equipment levels of its more modern competitors.
Price
The Tata Indigo eCS GVX was priced competitively in the Indian market, with the base LS variant starting at around Rs 5.28 lakh ex-showroom. On-road prices varied by state due to different tax structures but generally ranged from Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh, depending on the location and any additional features or accessories. This pricing made the Indigo eCS one of the most affordable diesel sedans available, offering significant value for money, especially for those on a budget. However, its important to note that prices may have changed over time, and current prices might differ if the model is still available in the used car market.

The Tata Indigo eCS GVX, although discontinued, was known for its comfortable and spacious interior. It featured a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a new sound system, and a center console coated in gun metal, making it a cozy ride for its time. I think the interior upgrades were a significant step forward for Tata in terms of comfort and aesthetics.

The Indigo eCS GVX came with a 1193 cc petrol engine producing 64.1 BHP and 100 Nm of torque, and a 1396 cc diesel engine producing 70 BHP and 140 Nm of torque. The smoother engines and upgraded transmission systems made driving this car quite enjoyable. I believe the engine options provided a good balance between power and fuel efficiency.

In terms of safety features, the Tata Indigo eCS GVX lacked modern amenities like airbags but had disc brakes in the front, drum brakes at the rear, and ABS. It also included anti-submarine seats and a side intrusion beam on all doors. While it wasnt the safest car on the market, it had some basic safety features. I think adding airbags would have significantly enhanced its safety profile.

The Indigo eCS GVX had a stylish exterior with a chrome grille, radiant headlamps, and an impressive tail lamp cluster. The body-colored bumpers and chrome garnish at the rear added to its aesthetic appeal. It also came with 14-inch wheels and puncture-resistant radial tires. I think the design was simple yet elegant, fitting well into the compact sedan segment.

The fuel efficiency of the Tata Indigo eCS GVX was notable, with the diesel engine offering up to 25 kmpl. The petrol engine, however, managed around 15.64 kmpl. The fuel tank capacity of 42 liters allowed for decent long-distance driving without frequent refueling. I believe the fuel efficiency was one of its strong points.

The Tata Indigo eCS GVX was priced between Rs. 5.02 lakh and Rs. 7 lakh, making it a competitive option in the compact sedan market. It was available in two colors: Porcelain White and Jet Silver. I think the pricing was quite competitive given the features and performance it offered.

The Indigo eCS GVX featured a five-speed manual transmission that provided smooth gear transitions, enhancing the overall driving experience. The transmission was improved compared to earlier Tata models, reducing the commercial-vehicle-like feel. I believe this was a significant improvement in terms of drivability.

The interior of the Indigo eCS GVX included modernized features such as a chilled glove box in the top-of-the-line variants, a new instrument cluster, and a center console with a gun metal finish. The Indigo eCS GVX was part of Tatas efforts to revamp their compact sedan lineup. Although it is now discontinued, it was a step towards improving the brands image in terms of quality and performance. I think this model played a crucial role in Tatas transition to more modern and feature-rich vehicles.
Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 07:39 AM
The mileage of the Tata Indigo eCS GVX is one of its strongest selling points. With an ARAI-tested figure of 25 kmpl, real-world mileage typically ranges from 16-20 kmpl, depending on driving conditions.
